Job Title: Robotics Field Integration Specialist

Job Description

The Robotics Field Integration Specialist supports the build, testing, deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement of advanced robotic systems used in utility-scale solar construction projects. This hands-on role blends electromechanical assembly, troubleshooting, prototype development, and field service, working both in the shop and at project sites. The position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment, enjoys solving complex technical problems, and takes ownership of equipment performance and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, modify, and integrate robotic and complex electromechanical systems using engineering drawings, schematics, CAD models, and work instructions.

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and robotic components in both shop and field environments.

  • Perform prototype builds, testing, validation, and iterative equipment improvements to support new product introduction and R&D activities.

  • Support robotic deployments at utility-scale solar project sites, including installation, commissioning, and operational maintenance.

  • Implement engineering changes, document modifications, and maintain clear technical records using appropriate documentation tools.

  • Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, work instructions, and technical documentation to guide build and repair activities.

  • Assist with inventory management, including BOM tracking, material handling, and procurement support for parts and components.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and field teams to improve equipment performance, reliability, and safety.

  • Travel regularly to customer and project sites to perform inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and engineering change implementation.

  • Use hand tools, power tools, measurement equipment, and fabrication machinery to build, modify, and improve mechanical systems.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying root causes of failures and implementing corrective and preventive actions.

  • Contribute to a safety-focused culture by following established procedures, using required PPE, and promoting safe work practices in shop and field settings.

  • Communicate status, findings, and recommendations clearly to cross-functional teams and document work performed in an organized manner.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3+ years of hands-on experience in electromechanical assembly and integration of complex systems, robotic equipment, automation machinery, or prototype hardware.

  • At least 3+ years of experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and robotic systems.

  • At least 2+ years of experience working with robotics, automation systems, industrial equipment, autonomous vehicles, construction technology, or other complex electromechanical platforms.

  • At least 2+ years of experience supporting field deployment, equipment installation, commissioning, maintenance, or service-related work.

  • At least 2+ years of experience with fabrication, tooling, and prototype development using hand tools, power tools, measurement equipment, and fabrication machinery.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and analytical problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, CAD models, assembly drawings, and detailed work instructions.

  • Comfort working in both shop and field environments, including outdoor construction and renewable energy sites.

  • Self-starter with a high level of ownership, accountability, and the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.

  • Strong communication and documentation skills to clearly record work performed and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Team-oriented mindset with a focus on safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.

  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented, startup-style environment with evolving designs and priorities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in solar, renewable energy, utility-scale, or construction environments.

  • Exposure to CAD software such as SolidWorks, OnShape, AutoCAD, or NX.

  • Familiarity with PLCs, controls, sensors, and industrial automation systems.

  • Experience supporting prototype builds, R&D, or new product introduction (NPI) activities.

  • Welding, machining, fabrication, or mechanical repair experience.

  • Commissioning, equipment installation, field service, or maintenance background.

  • Experience with heavy equipment or construction equipment.

  • Experience with BOM management, inventory control, procurement, or material tracking.

  • Familiarity with documentation tools such as Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms.

  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain it.

  • Military technical, aerospace, automotive, or industrial maintenance background.

  • Technical degree, trade school certification, military technical training, or equivalent hands-on experience.
