Full job description

NVIDIA is looking for an attorney to join our Legal team as Legal Counsel, AI Governance, helping to support and drive our AI-related compliance functions. You will help scale NVIDIA’s AI governance program and provide counsel on emerging AI regulation, transparency, and safety requirements. You will report directly to the VP of Trustworthy AI in our Legal Department and work closely with the entire legal team, as well as colleagues in security, research, and product.

Our highly respected legal team provides innovative solutions and practical guidance that help make NVIDIA the world leader in AI and accelerated computing. As AI transforms every industry, from AI factories and frontier models to robotics and autonomous vehicles, we help ensure NVIDIA’s technology is developed and deployed responsibly and in step with a fast-changing legal landscape. You will be asked to continuously learn and develop your legal skills, and you will be responsible for providing legal support on a wide variety of issues. We value partnership, teamwork, and creative thinking.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Advising research and product teams on regulatory requirements, transparency obligations, and development standards.

  • Helping build and run compliance programs for AI technologies under global and state frameworks.

  • Drafting and reviewing NVIDIA’s AI frameworks, transparency reports, and other public disclosures.

  • Supporting regulator outreach, standards-body participation, and industry engagement on AI governance.

What we need to see:

  • J.D. degree with a record of strong academic performance.

  • 2+ years of relevant legal experience in technology regulation, privacy, data governance, or AI, gained at a law firm, in-house, or in government.

  • Working knowledge of AI regulation and a genuine interest in how AI technologies are developed and governed.

  • A license to practice law in California and a willingness to work out of our Santa Clara headquarters.

  • Extraordinary communication and project management skills, including writing, presentation, organizational abilities, and attention to detail.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • In-house experience advising on AI, privacy, or technology regulatory compliance, ideally in the high-tech industry.

  • Technical familiarity with machine learning, AI model development, computer systems, or programming.

  • Familiarity with intellectual property, privacy, and cybersecurity topics as they relate to AI.

NVIDIA is widely considered to be one of the technology world’s most desirable employers. We have some of the most forward-thinking and talented people in the world working for us. If you're creative and autonomous, we want to hear from you!

You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.

Applications for this job will be accepted at least until November 7, 2026. This posting is for an existing vacancy. NVIDIA uses AI tools in its recruiting processes.

NVIDIA is committed to fostering an inclusive work environment and proud to be an equal opportunity employer. As we highly value diversity in our current and future employees, we do not discriminate (including in our hiring and promotion practices) on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, disability status or any other characteristic protected by law.
