Sony Pictures Animation is a pre-production animation studio based in Los Angeles, California, creating both feature animation and animated series with artists from around the world. We pride ourselves on empowering filmmakers to lead the creative process, and allowing the hand of the artist to be truly felt, with the goal of producing bold and innovative visual storytelling.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute publicity campaigns for Sony Pictures Animation films and series in partnership with the broader Publicity/Digital PR team.

  • Manage day-to-day publicity activities across multiple projects, timelines and priorities.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with entertainment, trade, consumer, animation and digital media.

  • Identify compelling stories and publicity opportunities around our projects, filmmakers, talent and the artists behind our productions.

  • Draft press releases, pitches, talking points, briefing documents, media alerts and other publicity materials.

  • Coordinate and execute press interviews, junkets, screenings, premieres, festivals, conventions, awards events and other publicity opportunities.

  • Prepare filmmakers, executives and talent for press opportunities, including developing briefing materials and coordinating interview logistics.

  • Partner closely with filmmakers and production teams to identify behind-the-scenes stories, creative milestones and other opportunities to showcase the filmmaking process.

  • Collaborate with Digital PR and social teams to extend publicity moments and identify opportunities for original and platform-specific content.

  • Partner with Sony Pictures Entertainment teams, distribution partners, external agencies and other stakeholders to ensure alignment across campaigns.

  • Track press coverage, industry conversations and emerging media trends and identify opportunities or issues requiring attention.

  • Manage multiple campaigns and deadlines simultaneously while adapting quickly as priorities evolve.

  • Manage calendars, schedule meetings, book conference rooms, and arrange travel logistics.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Approximately 4+ years of experience in entertainment publicity, communications, media relations or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Experience contributing to and executing publicity campaigns for film, television or other entertainment/media projects.

  • Strong understanding of the evolving media landscape, with demonstrated ability to develop thoughtful press strategies, identify compelling story opportunities and build productive relationships with media.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing pitches, press materials, briefing documents and other communications for a variety of audiences.

  • Experience supporting talent, filmmakers, executives and/or other creative partners in a publicity or communications environment.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and changing priorities.

  • Sound judgment and discretion, particularly when handling sensitive information and navigating high-profile or fast-moving situations.

  • Collaborative approach and ability to build effective working relationships across different teams, disciplines and levels of an organization.

  • Familiarity with digital media and social platforms and an understanding of how publicity, digital PR and social media can complement one another.

  • Experience in animation, family entertainment and/or franchise publicity is a plus, but not required.

  • Interest in animation, filmmaking and creative storytelling.

  • Ability to travel and work outside of standard business hours as required for key publicity events, including premieres, festivals, screenings and junkets.
