Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Fishkill Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Department: Nursing Reports To: Director of Nursing / Nurse Supervisor The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct and indirect resident care activities under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The CNA assists residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), promotes comfort, safety, and dignity, and supports the interdisciplinary care team in maintaining high-quality care in accordance with New York State Department of Health regulations and facility policies. Key Responsibilities Resident Care: - Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding - Provide mobility assistance including transferring, repositioning, and ambulation using proper techniques and equipment - Measure and record vital signs, intake/output, weights, and other assigned observations - Observe and report changes in resident condition, behavior, or physical status to the nurse promptly - Maintain a clean, safe, and organized resident environment Clinical Support: - Assist nursing staff with treatments and procedures as permitted under CNA scope of practice - Ensure proper use of infection control practices, including hand hygiene and use of PPE - Follow care plans and document care provided accurately and timely Resident Rights & Communication: - Treat all residents with dignity, respect, and compassion - Support resident rights, privacy, and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA - Communicate effectively with residents, families, and care team members Safety & Compliance: - Adhere to all New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) and federal (CMS) regulations - Follow facility policies, procedures, and safety protocols - Participate in mandatory in-service education and training programs - Report incidents, accidents, or unsafe conditions immediately Other Duties: - Assist with meal service and hydration programs - Transport residents as needed within the facility - Perform other related duties as assigned Working Conditions - Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and repositioning of residents - Exposure to healthcare environment including bodily fluids and infectious diseases - May be required to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed Compliance Statement This position complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including those set forth by the New York State Department of Health and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
