About the Team

DoorDash’s growing Accounting team supports a rapidly evolving marketplace business and offers opportunities to build new processes and develop your career. We’re looking for a Manager, Technical Revenue Accounting to support complex revenue arrangements, new product offerings, and accounting policy alignment across its businesses.

About the Role

This is an individual contributor role with responsibility for leading technical revenue accounting assessments for assigned business lines, products, and transactions. You will partner with Business Development, Product, Sales, Legal, Finance, and operational accounting teams to evaluate proposed contract terms and product offerings, explain their accounting and financial statement implications, and help stakeholders assess alternatives.

You will apply US GAAP, particularly ASC 606, to complex transactions; document clear, well-supported accounting conclusions; and translate those conclusions into practical implementation requirements. This role offers exposure to a broad range of revenue streams and business initiatives and requires strong technical judgment, independent project ownership, and effective communication with business partners, accounting leadership, and external auditors.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Lead technical revenue accounting assessments. Research and evaluate complex or non-standard arrangements under ASC 606 and other applicable US GAAP, including merchant incentives and rebates, revenue guarantees, material rights, promotional programs, contract modifications, and principal versus agent considerations.

  • Advise on commercial arrangements and new products. Review proposed contracts, deal structures, and product offerings early in their development. Clearly explain accounting implications and evaluate alternatives to support informed business decisions.

  • Document accounting conclusions. Prepare technical accounting memos and position papers that clearly explain relevant facts, applicable guidance, significant judgments, and conclusions.

  • Support acquisition integration. Assess accounting policies and practices at acquired businesses, identify differences, and support alignment with DoorDash’s accounting policies.

  • Support operational implementation. Translate accounting conclusions into requirements for billing, revenue recognition, financial reporting, and controls, partnering with operational accounting teams to support accurate execution.

  • Strengthen policies, processes, and controls. Develop and maintain revenue accounting policies, guidance, and training materials, and identify opportunities to improve contract review processes and related controls.

  • Support audits and financial reporting. Work with accounting leadership and external auditors to address technical accounting questions, explain significant judgments, and support quarterly and annual reporting as needed.

  • Manage projects independently. Balance competing priorities, communicate review requirements and timelines, and escalate significant accounting issues or unresolved judgments promptly.

We’re excited about you because…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.

  • 6+ years of relevant accounting experience, including substantial experience applying ASC 606 to complex revenue arrangements.

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and demonstrated ability to research unfamiliar accounting issues, exercise sound judgment, and develop well-supported conclusions.

  • Experience reviewing commercial contracts and identifying the accounting implications of non-standard terms.

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare clear, persuasive technical accounting memos and position papers.

  • Experience supporting external audits and discussing technical accounting matters with auditors.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex accounting matters to non-accounting stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and collaborate effectively across functions in a fast-paced environment.

  • Relevant experience in public accounting, industry technical accounting, or a combination of both.

  • CPA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification, preferably.

  • Big 4 public accounting experience, preferably.

  • Experience with technology, marketplace, e-commerce, SaaS, or platform-based businesses, preferably.

  • Experience supporting post-acquisition integration and accounting policy alignment, preferably.

  • Familiarity with SOX requirements, internal controls over financial reporting, and accounting process design, preferably.

  • Experience translating technical accounting conclusions into operational processes and system requirements, preferably.
