Full job description

Position Summary

Story County Public Health is seeking an intern to assist in meeting the goals of educating the Story County community on various health-related initiatives. This position will have high interaction with the public and be involved in important work regarding immunization and vaccination clinics as well as events. As an intern at Mary Greeley Medical Center, you will also have the opportunity to job shadow other departments of interest.

Position Responsibilities

Unit Specific Position Responsibilities

  • Interact and communicate with the community on a professional level to educate and bring awareness

  • Organize immunization/vaccination clinics and programs

  • Utilize Epic system to both enter and verify information

  • Update the Emergency Preparedness Manual

  • Assist with planning of events such as Public Health Day, Iowa Public Health annual meeting, Public Health regional meeting, Bi-monthly Public Health coalition meetings

  • Assist in the coordination of various education and promotional projects

  • Create promotional brochures

  • Other projects of interest

  • Participate in Mary Greeley internship events (presentations, education, outreach, etc).

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):

Preferred :

Junior or Senior studying Kinesiology and Health, Community and Public Health, or related area of study

Required :

Strong communication skills, independent worker, intuitive, strong initiative, and critical thinking skills

Excel and Word proficiency
