Full job description

**About Blue **Blue is building a new kind of phone, with your chief of staff built in. Blue sees what you do and reads every notification, text, and email for you. Based on everything it’s learned about you, it decides what to do with each one: handle it and leave you an FYI, or draft a reply and wait for your OK. And anything else in your life is one button away from being off your plate. It works from day one. When you switch, Blue reads everything that comes over from your iPhone, so it already knows the people in your life, how you write, and the passwords, cards, and IDs it needs, kept in a secure vault you both share. No onboarding, and no explaining yourself. Delegation this deep isn’t possible from an app. It takes owning the operating system and, ultimately, the hardware. Today the Blue OS runs on Google Pixel hardware while our own hardware is in development. We’re Y Combinator-backed, seed-funded, and our first customers already use it as their daily phone. **The role **You’ll be our first product designer, working directly with the founders and engineers on something nobody has designed before: the experience of having a chief of staff with you 24/7.

  • Triage you can trust: Every notification, text, and email gets handled, drafted for approval, or set aside. You’ll design how those decisions surface, so people stay informed without being interrupted.
  • Handing off: You’ll design how handing something over feels, how Blue reports back, and how people check up on its work
  • Switching without starting over: Blue learns about you from your old iPhone. You’ll design the migration so it feels like picking up where you left off.
  • What Blue knows, and what it can’t see: You’ll design how people view, edit, and delete Blue’s memory, and how the vault works, where Blue can use passwords and IDs without ever seeing them

You’ll own the system UI (home screen, lock screen, notifications) and our built-in apps (messaging, email, calendar, notes, and more), and you’ll start our design system. As our own hardware comes together, you’ll help shape how it brings the full Blue experience to life. After our Series A, you’ll hire and lead the design team and shape how design works at Blue. This role is for you if you:

  • Have shipped mobile products, ideally phone or OS-level work on Android, iOS
  • Prefer designing and shipping over presenting, and are comfortable prototyping, including with AI tools
  • Work closely with engineers and are fine with daily releases and real-user feedback
  • Can work with ambiguity and make good calls without a mature spec
  • Want to build a design team, not just join one
  • Will make a Blue Phone your daily phone on day 1
