About Bexorg Bexorg is a precision neurology company working to improve how new medicines for central nervous system (CNS) diseases are discovered and developed. Our team sits at the intersection of cutting-edge neuroscience, AI, engineering, and translational drug development. This work requires scientific rigor, responsible stewardship, and close collaboration across disciplines. We are looking for people who are curious, accountable, and ready to tackle unique challenges. At Bexorg, you will work alongside colleagues who ask thoughtful questions, share ideas openly, and take ownership for moving complex work forward. Whether your background is in neuroscience, biology, engineering, data science, or operations, you can help build a stronger foundation for decisions that shape new CNS medicines.

The role You will keep our human brain slice cultures healthy and run the daily bench work behind our drug studies. Senior staff will train you on each method, and you will build toward running assays on your own. This is a good fit for someone early in their lab career who is careful, reliable and keen to learn imaging and tissue methods.

What you will do

  • Care for organotypic human brain slice cultures and cell cultures: media changes, drug dosing and daily checks, all with strict sterile technique.
  • Prepare media, buffers, reagents and drug plates to written protocols.
  • Run plate-based assays: CellTiter-Glo viability, and pyruvate and lactate measurements from culture media.
  • Stain slices with live fluorescent dyes and image them on our widefield fluorescence microscope and slide scanner, following set imaging protocols.
  • Cut thin cryosections (8–20 µm) from fixed slices on a cryostat, mount them and help with immunofluorescence staining.
  • Support qPCR (RNA extraction, plate setup) and RNAscope in situ hybridization runs under supervision.
  • Help run drug screening experiments in multi-well plates, following plate maps and dosing schedules.
  • Record samples, treatments and results accurately in our sample-tracking and data systems.
  • Keep the lab running: stock and inventory, equipment cleaning, waste handling and safety upkeep.
  • Work night shifts and weekends on a rotating schedule to keep cultures and assays on time.

What you need

  • A bachelor's degree in biology, neuroscience, biomedical engineering or a related field, or an associate degree with relevant hands-on lab experience.
  • 0–2 years of lab experience, including internships, co-ops or lab courses.
  • Hands-on sterile cell or tissue culture.
  • Solid basic lab skills: accurate pipetting, solution preparation, and use of plate readers or similar instruments.
  • Careful, consistent record keeping.
  • Willingness to work rotating night shifts and weekends.
  • Comfort working with human post-mortem tissue under biosafety level 2 (BSL-2) practice, with training provided.
  • Can do attitude.

Nice to have

  • Some hands-on time with any of: fluorescence microscopy, cryosectioning, qPCR, RNAscope, CellTiter-Glo, pyruvate or lactate assays, or drug screening.
  • Experience with primary cells, tissue samples or neural cultures.
  • Comfort with Excel and basic image tools such as Fiji (ImageJ).

Physical requirements

  • Standing and working at the bench, hood, microscope or cryostat for long periods.
  • Lifting 25lbs or more.
  • Safe handling of sharp blades, liquid nitrogen, dry ice and human tissue, with personal protective equipment (PPE).
