Full job description

Description

Join our team and own the US immigration journey for our new hires and internal transfers. You will own the experience, service levels, escalation paths, and continuous improvement of how candidates and transferring employees move through the immigration process - at scale. As the single-threaded owner, you will connect candidates, employees, hiring managers, Talent Acquisition, HR, legal providers, and business stakeholders around a seamless, compliant, and scalable journey.

As US immigration policy shifts rapidly — including changes to student work authorization, H-1B and L-1 visas, consular visa practices, etc. — this leader will architect scalable, proactive service for new hires and transfers that minimizes risk and maximizes experience. This role is both strategic and tactical — you will drive customer experience improvement in your domain while independently solving problems where the path isn't well defined.

Key job responsibilities

Own the end-to-end US immigration journey for new hire and internal transfer populations — the process map, hand-offs, SLAs, and journey-health metrics across the candidate/employee lifecycle.

Drive out defects by developing mechanisms to keep them fixed — own systemic solutions for recurring escalations and build the decision frameworks that enable resolution of future escalations before they happen.

Contribute to emergent policy and crisis response — flex your capacity to review and respond to emergent US immigration policy and crisis issues as they arise (e.g., H-1B, OPT, green card, visa processing, etc.); collaborate with providers, internal stakeholders, and the business to design, implement, and communicate timely responses.

Partner cross-functionally with Legal, internal/outside legal providers, Talent Acquisition, HR Partners, Relocation, and business leaders to align on process, policy, and communications.

Build and maintain scalable program documentation — playbooks, templates, FAQs, and self-service resources — and drive continuous improvement using case data and customer feedback.

A day in the life

You won't be doing case work in this role. It's about analyzing our customer experience and compliance data to make measurable improvements in the experience of immigration-sponsored new hires and transfers. You'll partner with stakeholders across teams find the pain points, anticipate new needs, and invent ways to surprise and delight our customers.

About the team

In the Immigration team at Amazon, we aim to give sponsored employees peace of mind, knowing that their immigration matters are in the hands of experts, so they can focus on what they do best, inventing the future. The team is full of immigration experts, process mavens, and escalations specialists, all working together in a collegial, supportive, and fast-paced environment.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business, Program Management, Human Resources, Employment Law, Computer Science, Finance, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Operations Research or a related field

  • 5+ years of HR, talent acquisition, management consulting, or project/program management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience handling ambiguous or undefined challenges through strong problem solving abilities

  • Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and partnering well with people at all levels within an organization

  • Experience owning program strategy, managing end-to-end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Experience solving complex investigations or escalations

  • Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights

  • 5+ years of corporate US immigration experience in a high-volume environment, as an attorney, specialist, or case manager — you have operated as a subject-matter expert managing employment-based immigration at scale (large caseloads, multiple concurrent matters, tight SLAs)

  • • Direct US experience across in-scope categories — H-1B, L-1, TN, O-1, F-1 OPT, E-3 / H-1B1, and employment based permanent residence

  • • Experience with case management systems and building self-service / documentation at scale

  • • Ability to flex capacity to address urgent, emergent US immigration policy issues — experience translating rapidly changing regulatory developments (e.g., H-1B, OPT/STEM OPT, TN, visa processing) into operational and customer-facing responses.
