About this Position: Departmental Analyst 9-P11: This position serves as a Departmental Analyst to provide IT (information technology) support for the Technology and Systems Unit by evaluating program quality and effectiveness through uniformity in technology and data management. The position provides analytical and technical services for legacy data systems, databases, and program databases, provides complex reporting of bureau data, and supports bureau / division processes and procedures related to equipment and technology for existing staff, as well as incoming new and departing staff. This position is responsible for professional research and analysis assignments and requires initiative and independent decision-making as well as technical aptitude in the areas of applications, data systems, auditing and reporting.

Position Description - Departmental Analyst 9-P11

Departmental Analyst 12: This position serves as a recognized IT (information technology) technical expert, serving as recognized resource and primary point of contact for the bureau’s legacy data systems and other supporting program databases used in administration of core services. This position:

  • Provides oversight, leadership, development, technical expertise and maintenance for legacy data systems, databases, and program databases, including foodborne illness database, mushroom database, Business Unit System (BUSS), State Rating Officer Suite and other legacy systems.
  • Manages existing legacy and program data collection reporting systems while simultaneously leading their modernization and advancement.
  • Data collection, reporting and analysis to inform program decisions.
  • Provides advanced technical skills, decision-making, and guidance for staff in navigating IT matters, with a focus on legacy data systems, providing professional guidance and training in support of the overall IT function and needs – including as a technical advisor for IT hardware and software coordination.

The location for this position is the Deborah Stabenow Building in Lansing, MI and may offer some agreed upon remote work arrangement.

Experience

Departmental Analyst 9 No specific type or amount is required.

Departmental Analyst 10 One year of professional experience.

Departmental Analyst P11 Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.

Departmental Analyst 12 Three years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced (P11) level in state service.
