Job Title: Assistant/Associate Professor
Department: Business
Employment Type: Full-Time/Academic Year/Tenurable
The Department of Business at Montana Technological University invites applications for a full time, tenure-track Associate or Assistant Professor with an August 2027 appointment. The successful candidate must be able to teach a variety of undergraduate business courses using multiple delivery methods but will primarily focus on courses required under the Department’s undergraduate Accounting Option. A master’s degree in a business or related discipline and five years of pertinent industry experience or an earned doctorate with a business focused undergraduate or graduate degree is required. Preferred qualifications include an active accounting certification (CPA, CMA, CIMA, etc.), a master’s degree in accounting, experience using and/or teaching advanced Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, SAP or equivalent ERP platform, undergraduate level teaching experience, and pertinent business-related industry experience. The primary requirement of this position is academic instruction, therefore a required skill for the successful candidate will be excellent written and oral communication and a demonstrated ability to use a variety of technologies for course delivery and management.

Duties:
The Associate/Assistant Professor will become a team member of the faculty of Montana Technological University in the Department of Business. The successful candidate must be able to teach a variety of business courses using multiple delivery methods but will primarily focus on required courses under the Department’s undergraduate Accounting Option. The normal teaching load is four courses per semester with the potential for course reduction given for value adding activities related to scholarship and service. Additionally, the candidate will be required to advise undergraduate students, serve on committees, and commit to professional development and/or scholarly activity. The faculty member will be evaluated for tenure and promotion purposes in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet at least one of the following eligibility paths:
Path A: A Master’s degree in a business or closely related discipline, paired with a minimum of five (5) years of pertinent industry experience.
Path B: An earned Doctorate degree, supported by a business-focused undergraduate or graduate degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications: Active professional accounting certification (CPA, CMA, CIMA, or equivalent).
Education Focus: A Master’s degree specifically in Accounting.
Teaching Experience: Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
Technical Skills: Experience using and/or teaching Advanced Microsoft Excel.
Systems & Analytics: Experience using and/or teaching data analytics and ERP platforms, specifically Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, SAP, or equivalent platforms.
Industry Experience: Pertinent, hands-on business-related industry experience.
