Description
Robert Half Legal is partnering with a real estate company, seeking a Nevada-barred litigation attorney to join their team in-house.
This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of a diverse litigation docket in a legal department that values sound judgment, independence, and practical problem-solving. The attorney in this role will manage matters directly rather than relying heavily on outside counsel, making it an excellent fit for someone who enjoys hands-on litigation work and a long-term in-house environment. This role reports to the CEO.
Responsibilities:
-
Manage civil litigation matters from initial assessment through resolution, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, settlement efforts, and trial preparation.
-
Develop case strategies, evaluate legal and business risk, and advise internal stakeholders on the best path forward for active disputes.
-
Draft and respond to complaints, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and other litigation documents with minimal supervision.
-
Take and defend depositions, prepare witnesses, and coordinate all phases of factual development in contested matters.
-
Negotiate settlements and represent the company in mediations, hearings, and other proceedings as needed.
-
Handle a broad range of disputes involving property operations, liability claims, tenant-related issues, and employment-related litigation.
-
Work closely with legal support staff on calendaring, research, discovery management, and preparation of court filings.
-
Step in on trial readiness activities when cases proceed toward courtroom presentation, including exhibit review, witness preparation, and overall case organization.
Perks of Company:
-
In-house litigation!
-
More work/life balance than a law firm – “litigating without the rat race”
-
Autonomy. If you know how to run a case, you will be left alone to run it.
-
Great tenure: long term employees, and even second-generation employees!
-
Family-owned company, and “we try to treat our people as family too!”
-
“We are making decisions for the long haul (30-40 years down the line, how will this affect us?) and are not short-sighted in our business practices.”
-
“We try to be open-minded group of folks.”
Requirements
- Barred NV. If not, must be barred in CA or TX and willing to take NV bar.
a. Living in NV.
-
Experience actually litigating cases from start to finish: responding to complaints, going back and forth via discovery, law & motion, trial preparation, and negotiating settlements. Someone who can run their own cases with limited instructions.
-
8+ years of experience. Autonomy is key!
