We’re looking for an experienced, multidimensional litigator to join our talented and collaborative Litigation & Safety Team! As a member of the Legal team, you’ll play a key role on Snap’s Litigation and Safety team. Snap’s Legal team helps Snap do the right thing the right way, make better decisions, understand and manage risks, and creatively navigate challenges, both external and internal. This is a hybrid in-office role under our “Default Together” policy with a preferred location of Santa Monica or San Francisco, California.

What you’ll do:

  • Be an active and strategic member of a team managing a diverse range of matters within Snap’s complex litigation docket across multiple jurisdictions

  • Partner with in-house and outside counsel to manage cutting-edge cases, overseeing substantive work and be a key participant in strategic decision-making

  • Dive deep into substantive work on cutting-edge legal issues

  • Manage and contribute to individual litigation matters across multiple jurisdictions, including working with outside counsel, managing discovery, editing legal briefs, preparing witnesses, and negotiating settlements

  • Collaborate across litigation teams and cross-functionally across Snap

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Highly skilled in all aspects of litigation (e.g., brief-writing, legal strategy, discovery, deposition and trial preparation, expert witnesses); trial experience a plus

  • Experience handling significant aspects of complex legal matters, including meaningfully contributing to strategic decisions

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Facility with eDiscovery, including managing voluminous document productions in a cost-effective manner

  • Ability to collaborate well with colleagues

  • Strong organizational and case management skills

  • Sound judgment on legal and business issues

  • Collaborative team player who can connect well with a broad range of people and knows how to provide solution-minded legal advice, cognizant of business objectives

  • Self-starter who is able to recognize and set priorities independently

  • Able to juggle multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment

Minimum qualifications:

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school and strong academic credentials

  • Active membership in at least one state bar in good standing

  • 6+ years of complex litigation experience in private practice

Preferred qualifications:

  • Member of California Bar or Member of the California Bar’s Registered In-house Counsel Program (current or immediately eligible)

  • Trial experience is a plus

  • In-house experience is highly preferred. If you have all of that plus experience with the tech sector, we’ll be blown away.

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC) (https://careers.snap.com/us-payzones) :

The base salary range for this position is $209,000-$313,000 annually.

Zone B (https://careers.snap.com/us-payzones) :

The base salary range for this position is $199,000-$297,000 annually.

Zone C (https://careers.snap.com/us-payzones) :

The base salary range for this position is $178,000-$266,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
