Full job description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting and tax activities for a long-term contract opportunity in Angola, New York. This position will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing tax-related documentation, and supporting daily accounting operations. The ideal candidate brings strong experience across general ledger work, journal entry preparation, and corporate and sales tax processes.
Responsibilities:

Prepare and post journal entries to ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and on schedule.

Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, investigating discrepancies and resolving issues in a timely manner.

Assist with the preparation and review of corporate tax filings and supporting documentation.

Manage sales tax reporting activities, including data gathering, calculation support, and filing coordination.

Support period-end close activities by organizing financial information and helping ensure reporting deadlines are met.

Review accounting records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal standards and applicable regulations.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide accounting support, tax information, and financial documentation as needed. Requirements • Experience working in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role.

Working knowledge of corporate tax and sales tax processes.

Proficiency in preparing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accuracy.

Ability to support corporate tax return preparation with attention to detail.

Strong analytical and reconciliation skills with a high degree of accuracy.

Effective organizational and time-management skills in a deadline-driven environment.

Proficiency with standard accounting systems and spreadsheet tools.
