Full job description

Introduction

A career in IBM Consulting is built on long-term client relationships and close collaboration worldwide. You'll work with leading companies across industries, helping them shape their hybrid cloud and AI journeys. With support from our strategic partners, robust IBM technology, and Red Hat, you'll have the tools to drive meaningful change and accelerate client impact. At IBM Consulting, curiosity fuels success. You'll be encouraged to challenge the norm, explore new ideas, and create innovative solutions that deliver real results. Our culture of growth and empathy focuses on your long-term career development while valuing your unique skills and experiences.

Your role and responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced SAP EWM Consultant with a proven track record in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition implementations.

In this role, you will lead the end-to-end implementation, configuration, and optimization of Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) solutions. Unlike traditional on-premise roles, this position requires a strong focus on SAP Activate methodology, Fit-to-Standard delivery model, and SAP Central Business Configuration (CBC) with clean core extension principles. You will collaborate closely with clients to streamline supply chain operations, enhance inventory visibility, and maximize warehouse efficiency.

Fit-to-Standard & Solution Design: Lead and facilitate Fit-to-Standard workshops to analyze business requirements against SAP standard cloud processes. Guide clients toward standard public cloud solutions rather than heavy customizations.

Cloud Configuration: Configure SAP S/4HANA Cloud Warehouse Management capabilities using SAP Central Business Configuration (CBC) and standard browser apps. Manage standard cloud extensions without utilizing classic SPRO/ABAP modifications.

Core EWM Implementation: Design and configure core EWM processes, including Inbound Logistics, Outbound Logistics, Internal Warehouse Movements, Putaway & Picking strategies, Inventory Management, Handling Units, and Replenishment.

Integration & Systems Management: Ensure seamless system integration using qRFC, CIF, and cloud APIs to bridge the EWM footprint with core ERP and other cloud solutions. Oversee standard data migration concepts utilizing SAP toolsets.

Testing & Deployment: Prepare and manage test deliverables (test plans, test cases, and results) via standard quality tools. Support the project through deployment, cutover, and post-go-live hyper care optimization.

Client Collaboration: Serve as a trusted advisor and "Template Defender," helping stakeholders adopt native cloud best practices and manage organizational change.

This job can be performed from anywhere in the US.

Required technical and professional expertise

  • SAP Experience: Minimum of 5-7+ years of SAP EWM consulting experience, with strong functional knowledge of supply chain operations.

  • Public Cloud Expertise: Successfully completed at least 1-2 full-lifecycle implementations of SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition (EWM module).

  • Methodology: Practical experience with SAP Activate methodology phases (Discover, Prepare, Explore, Realize, Deploy, Run).

  • Technical Understanding: Firm grasp of clean core concepts, standard cloud extensibility, and the lack of traditional SPRO/custom ABAP environments in public cloud setups.

  • Soft Skills: Exceptional client-facing, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work independently within remote or hybrid consulting teams.

IBM is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, caste, genetics, pregnancy, disability, neurodivergence, age, veteran status, or other characteristics. IBM is also committed to compliance with all fair employment practices regarding citizenship and immigration status.
