Job Description: Design scalable systems to solve novel problems with modern cloud technology and industry best practices. Develop the future of database systems with a focus on scalability, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency. Design, implement and operate Coinbases distributed database technologies. Use experience to guide other senior engineers and leadership on the right technical choices while anticipating the businesss needs. Work with various vendors in the database and storage space. Write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of customers. Maintain, troubleshoot and be on call for engineering and operational support. Stay on top of industry trends and emerging technologies in databases to continuously enhance our systems and processes. Telecommuting permitted. Job Requirements: Bachelors or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or in a related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a software engineer-related occupation.Special Requirements: Position requires experience, knowledge or coursework in each of the following skills: 1. Shipping user-facing features using Java and Python; 2. Architecting and developing backend data systems for handling transactional and analytical workloads; 3. Serverless architectures and cloud technologies including AWS; 4. Working within Client/Server environment with an understanding of software practices supporting development of applications; 5. Development languages such as Java or Scala to build platforms, applications, and features within current software development code and standards; and 6. SQL and NoSQL database systems.Employment and background checks may be required.
