Full job description

It's more than a job

A role in Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) at Kuehne+Nagel is focused on ensuring the well-being of our employees. But your impact goes far beyond that. Your expertise in cultivating a culture of safety enables our teams to do their jobs with confidence, whether it's making sure sensitive medical equipment reaches hospitals on time to save lives or delivering toys to local stores in perfect condition. At Kuehne+Nagel, your work contributes to more than we imagine.

‎

As the Global Quality Manager, Cloud+Semicon Road, you will lead the practical deployment and execution of Cloud+Semicon quality requirements across global Road Logistics, with a particular focus on last-mile delivery. You will translate our global quality framework into practical, field-ready controls, verify operational and supplier performance, and drive timely corrective action across Kuehne+Nagel operations, control towers, delivery crews, and approved Road service partners.

This is a highly hands-on role that connects quality with what is happening on the operational ground. You will work closely with operations, suppliers, and customers to help ensure complex, high-value deliveries are executed according to the required quality, safety, security, and service standards.

How you create impact

  • Implement the global Cloud+Semicon quality framework within Road Logistics, maintaining Road-specific procedures, work instructions, checklists, acceptance criteria, and other field-ready controls.

  • Establish and verify last-mile delivery controls covering vehicle and equipment readiness, authorized crews, PPE, route and site requirements, handling, positioning, deployment, and proof of delivery.

  • Develop and execute a risk-based Road audit program across Kuehne+Nagel locations, control towers, dedicated crews, and subcontracted service partners, including announced and unannounced assessments and live delivery observations.

  • Lead quality participation in supplier due diligence, onboarding, approval, and periodic requalification, assessing areas such as vehicles, equipment, staffing, competence, security controls, continuity arrangements, and delivery performance.

  • Maintain supplier scorecards and improvement plans, verify corrective actions, and escalate critical or recurring issues, including recommending restriction or suspension of providers when critical controls are ineffective or risk is unacceptable.

  • Lead or support the containment and investigation of Road service failures, damage, handling deviations, near misses, data failures, and customer complaints, applying RCCA/CAPA methodology and ensuring effective corrective and preventive actions.

  • Verify the operational readiness of new or changed Road operations prior to go-live, providing documented quality recommendations and escalating material or systemic risks when appropriate.

  • Define and verify role-based competence, authorization, and refresher requirements for operations, drivers, delivery crews, control towers, and relevant supplier personnel, while supporting delivery-app controls and data quality.

  • Partner across Road Operations, Procurement, Security, QSHE, IT, visibility teams, account teams, customers, and service partners to resolve execution risks and support compliant delivery across countries and regions.

What we would like you to bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualification in quality, logistics, supply chain, engineering, operations, or a related discipline.

  • 7+ years quality-management experience within Road Logistics, last-mile delivery, high-value logistics, field services, or another controlled operational environment.

  • Demonstrated experience auditing multi-site operations and suppliers and implementing SOPs, work instructions, training, and digital controls.

  • Strong practical knowledge of RCCA/CAPA, risk assessment, supplier quality, operational readiness, and continuous improvement.

  • Strong operational understanding, ideally involving complex or above-average transport requirements, with knowledge of loading, unloading, equipment, safety, security, and/or high-value deliveries.

  • Ability to work effectively across countries and functions, constructively challenge non-conforming practices, and communicate credibly with operations teams, customers, suppliers, and other partners.

  • Ability to operate independently in a global, matrixed environment, managing responsibilities with limited day-to-day supervision while working effectively with multiple stakeholders.

  • Formal auditor or quality certifications are advantageous.

  • Approximately 50% U.S. national and international travel is required.
