Full job description
Instrumental technology is used by the world’s most admired electronics brands, such as NVIDIA, Cisco, and Meta, to accelerate new product development and improve production yields. Our technology leverages AI to process data generated on the manufacturing floor, automating failure identification and resolution, improving yield, quality, and time-to-market. In the past few quarters, our technology has become mission-critical for AI server manufacturers. We’re rapidly growing our global presence to enable deeper integrations into our customers’ complex manufacturing environments.
We're seeking a Data Quality Specialist to help scale the intelligence behind Instrumental's manufacturing AI platform. In this role, you won't just review data — you'll analyze patterns, build insights, and apply your engineering judgment to shape how our AI understands real-world manufacturing defects and variation.
As a professional with a background in manufacturing, quality control, or data analysis, you'll play a hands-on role in labeling complex image data from customer production lines while developing dashboards and analytical processes that optimize our operations. Your expertise will directly influence the accuracy, reliability, and performance of the models that power decisions for leading electronics brands. The ideal candidate is analytically minded, meticulous, technically savvy with data tools, process-oriented, and thrives working with a global team at the intersection of quality control and analytics.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Set Up Customer Program Environment: Partner with a global customer success team to ensure high-quality data ingestion post-deployment by preparing the customer environment for anomaly and defect detection. Avoid errors that could undermine AI model performance or user experience.
- Label and Review Data: Classify product images accurately and consistently, ensuring high-quality training data for our AI models.
- Maintain Quality Standards: Follow established guidelines and processes to avoid errors that could degrade model performance.
- Data Reporting: Clean and refine customer image data for immediate use in summary reports. This process involves reviewing photos, summarizing key defect trends and patterns, and generating program ROI reports.
- Process Improvement and Issue Escalation: Maintain process discipline by following established workflows. Proactively identify and flag unusual data patterns, environment changes (like new SKUs or lighting issues), or ambiguous cases, escalating them to senior team members to ensure the best possible results.
What You Have:
- 1-2 years of work experience in a manufacturing, process or mechanical engineering or quality inspection role, ideally in the high-tech electronics industry.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform repetitive tasks consistently and accurately.
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
- Technically savvy and eager to learn new systems and tools.
- Ability to learn quickly, follow structured processes, and apply feedback to improve program results.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python is a plus, with exposure to data ETL, analytics, or system integration being beneficial but not required.
- Written and spoken Mandarin language skills strongly preferred.
You’re encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn’t precisely match the job description.
