The Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State (OSS) is looking to hire two desktop support positions that will office at our downtown St. Paul site. These positions are responsible for providing deskside technical support to OSS's end users as well as to external users and customers, counties, and general public who utilize OSS applications and services.

Provide technical support (workstation support for hardware and software installations, configuration, connectivity, upgrades, and maintenance) and assistance to users of the Office of the Secretary of States workstations, applications, and related connectivity by:

  • Monitoring and responding to incidents and requests from the internal tracking system.

  • Provisioning of new or refreshed computers and/or the delivery of computers to users.

  • Assisting with user data and profile migrations.

  • Deploying/providing/installing software on workstations.

  • Assist with inventory management and equipment disposal processes.

Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year of information technology related experience OR Associate's degree in Information Technology or related filed

substitutes for one (1) year of experience.

Experience must include the following:

  • Providing help desk support and troubleshooting

Knowledge of:

  • Troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and resolve IT problems

  • Web browsers, computer hardware, and information technologies

  • English sufficient to speak, write, read and understand and be understood in responding to a variety of written and oralcommunications such as questions, detailed instructions and procedures

Ability to:

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and diverse customers.

  • Provide excellent customer service skills to communicate with end-users to address requests for service or equipment questionsand problems and clearly communicate technical concepts and procedures to non-technical personnel.

  • Manage time sufficient to meet deadlines and assume increased responsibility to multi-task and prioritize with limited direction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with installation and support of application software

  • Maintaining, patching, upgrading, and supporting operating systems
