Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Global Director of Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) to lead HSE strategy, compliance, and safety culture across a global manufacturing organization with more than 2,000 employees.

This individual will own HSE initiatives across operations in the United States, Mexico, Europe, China, and India, creating greater consistency and accountability across the company's global footprint. The Director will work closely with plant leadership while developing scalable programs around safety, environmental compliance, training, incident prevention, and risk reduction.

This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership position for someone who can establish a global strategy while remaining comfortable working directly with plant teams. The successful candidate will be able to socialize the importance of safety across all levels of the organization, influence leaders, and translate strategy into practical programs that employees can execute.

Responsibilities Develop and lead the company's global HSE strategy, policies, programs, and standards across manufacturing locations in North America, Europe, and Asia. Build and implement standardized safety orientations, annual training programs, and site-level safety initiatives across the organization. Drive improvements in safety performance, incident prevention, claims reduction, reporting, and overall employee engagement around HSE. Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, DOT, environmental, and international/local regulatory requirements. Lead environmental compliance efforts including waste management, emissions-related requirements, chemical management, recycling, and environmental reporting. Conduct audits, lead incident investigations and root-cause analysis, and develop corrective and preventative measures. Partner closely with plant managers, operations leaders, engineering, HR, and executive leadership to identify and mitigate HSE risks. Develop KPIs and reporting to measure performance and drive a proactive, accountable safety culture. Lead, coach, and develop HSE resources across the organization while serving as the subject matter expert for plant leadership. Support environmental management and sustainability initiatives, including ISO 14001 and ESG reporting.

Leadership & Scope

This position reports to the Chief People Officer and will work closely with plant managers and senior leadership across the global organization. The Director will initially have two direct reports while also influencing plant-level safety leaders and operations teams throughout the global footprint.

The right individual will be highly visible in the plants and comfortable building credibility with employees at every level, from the production floor through executive leadership.

Travel

Approximately 20–30% travel, including international travel. Travel may be heavier during the initial onboarding period as the Director develops relationships and gains firsthand knowledge of each operation. The expectation is to establish regular site engagement globally, with travel potentially decreasing as programs, training, and local ownership mature.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first year, this individual should have established a consistent global safety orientation and annual training cadence, strengthened environmental and regulatory compliance, developed clear HSE performance metrics, and built stronger ownership of safety across each location.

Ultimately, they will move the organization from a primarily site-focused HSE approach to a proactive, standardized global HSE program that reduces risk, improves safety performance, and creates lasting cultural change.

Skills and Requirements

10+ years of progressive HSE/EHS experience within manufacturing, ideally metalworking or a similarly regulated industrial environment. Proven experience leading HSE across multiple international sites, ideally including operations throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance, including EPA-related requirements, waste management, chemical management, emissions/environmental reporting, and environmental management systems. Advanced understanding of OSHA, EPA, DOT, industrial hygiene, and workplace safety standards. Demonstrated experience developing and personally facilitating safety training programs for both leadership and plant-level employees. Strong experience with incident investigation and root-cause analysis, including methodologies such as 8D, Five Whys, or similar approaches. Ability to build a global HSE strategy and translate it into actionable site-level programs. Proven ability to influence and drive cultural change, particularly with plant managers and operational leadership. Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Health & Environmental, or a closely related field. Experience within metalworking, automotive, industrial manufacturing, or a similarly regulated environment. Experience managing ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems. Experience with ESG or corporate sustainability reporting. Strong knowledge of industrial hygiene, ergonomics, hazardous materials, chemical management, and emergency preparedness. A portfolio or examples demonstrating previously developed HSE programs, safety plans, training initiatives, or measurable safety improvements.
