Job Summary
The Commercial Planning Analyst owns MPE’s company-wide demand forecast and provides sales operations support to the New Product Development (NPD) team. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the analyst turns customer and market signals into a single consensus forecast that Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance plan against, and keeps NPD opportunities moving through proposals, quoting, and billing. Approximately 60% of the role is company-wide demand planning for all MPE US business units, and approximately 40% is NPD sales operations support, from first request through hand-off to production. The analyst works closely with the PMO, Estimating, the Key Account Lead, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance. The position is based in Milwaukee, WI, and supports US operations in Milwaukee and Racine.
Performance Measures: Success is measured on forecast quality and on how smoothly NPD programs move through the commercial process, including: forecast accuracy and bias by customer and product family; on-time publication of the consensus forecast and its loading into IFS each monthly cycle; quote turnaround from NPD request to proposal sent; NRE billable hours tracked and billed against quoted budgets; and CRM data quality, measured as the share of active opportunities with a current stage, value, and close date. Specific targets are set with the Chief Commercial Officer within the first 90 days.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
-
Build and maintain the rolling 18-month demand forecast by customer, program, and product family, covering disposables, capital equipment, and Service and Repair, as the single consensus forecast for all MPE US business units
-
Gather forecast input from Key Account Managers, Strategic Account Managers, the PMO, customer forecasts, and EDI schedules, and reconcile it into one consensus number
-
Lead the monthly demand review and present the consensus forecast to Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance as part of Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP)
-
Load and maintain the approved forecast in IFS so material planning and capacity planning run off current demand
-
Track forecast accuracy and bias by customer and product family, explain variances, and adjust the forecast method
-
Flag demand risks and upside early, such as customer program changes, end-of-life parts, and new program ramps; fold NPD launches and program transfers into the forecast as they move toward production
-
Support the annual budget and revenue planning process with forecast scenarios
-
Own the CRM as the system of record for the commercial pipeline, including data standards, opportunity stages, user support, and pipeline reports
-
Coordinate proposals and quotes for NPD programs with Estimating, Engineering, and the PMO, and track response times against targets
-
Track non-recurring engineering (NRE) billable hours against quoted budgets, and prepare milestone billing for Finance
-
Maintain NPD program status from quote to prototype to production release, and report win rates and pipeline value
-
Help prepare customer reviews, business reviews, and leadership reports with pipeline and program data
-
Support the transition of NPD programs into production, including forecast and CRM updates
-
Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations
