Team Overview:

The Edward Jones Generations® team provides an end-to-end, High Net Worth (HNW) client experience by partnering with our branch teams to provide ongoing client services including holistic financial planning, tax and estate planning services via trusted 3rd parties, plan implementation via expanding sets of Edward Jones products and services, and ongoing reporting and support.

What You Will Do:

The Real Estate Strategist serves as an authority focused on helping high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients evaluate complex real estate decisions within the context of their broader wealth strategy.

Drawing on extensive real estate and wealth management experience, the Strategist helps clients and advisors understand how real estate holdings, acquisitions, dispositions, financing, income, liquidity, tax considerations, and legacy objectives intersect with the client's overall financial plan. The role directly supports complex client situations by identifying planning implications, evaluating strategic alternatives, coordinating appropriate internal and third-party resources, and serving as a central point of connectivity across the client's advisory team.

Working collaboratively with advisors and the Generations team, the Strategist helps transform significant real estate decisions into broader wealth planning opportunities, including identifying potential liquidity events, investment assets, lending needs, and other opportunities to deepen the client relationship and capture additional wallet share.

Core Responsibilities Include:

  • Serve as a central resource for complex real estate opportunities and decisions arising within Generations client relationships.

  • Evaluate real estate holdings and transactions in the context of the client's broader wealth, liquidity, investment, tax, estate, and legacy objectives.

  • Help advisors identify planning implications and opportunities created by acquisitions, dispositions, refinancing, income-producing properties, and changes in real estate ownership.

  • Provide expertise across real estate strategies and resources, including commercial real estate brokerage, investment-property transactions, real estate tax considerations, 1031 exchanges, DSTs, UPREIT/721s, qualified opportunity zones, real estate exit planning, and charitable real estate strategies available through the HNW Referral Network and Edward Jones Alternative Investment platform.

  • Create an integrated client experience across the financial advisor, Generations team, and external professionals rather than a series of disconnected referrals.

  • Develop scalable real estate discovery frameworks, workflows, planning resources, and engagement models.

  • Train Generations associates to identify real estate planning opportunities and determine when Strategist involvement is appropriate.

  • Use insights from client engagements to identify emerging needs, strengthen referral resources, and expand the firm's real estate wealth planning capabilities.

What Experience You Need:

  • 10+ years of directly relevant experience in commercial real estate, real estate investment advisory, private wealth management, private banking, family office, or a similarly sophisticated advisory environment.

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Series 7, Series 66, and Insurance licenses required within 6 months of hire

  • CFP designation preferred, or willingness to obtain and complete within the firm's policy guidelines

  • Deep expertise across commercial and investment real estate, including ownership structures, acquisitions, dispositions, financing, income-producing properties, valuation considerations, and exit strategies.

  • Strong working knowledge of tax-efficient real estate strategies, including 1031 exchanges, Delaware Statutory Trusts (DSTs), UPREIT/721 exchanges, Qualified Opportunity Zones, and charitable real estate strategies, with the ability to recognize when specialized tax or legal counsel is required.

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating complex client matters across real estate professionals, financial advisors, tax professionals, attorneys, lenders, and other specialists.

  • Ability to evaluate real estate within the context of a HNW/UHNW client's broader investment, liquidity, lending, tax, estate, and legacy objectives, translating property-level decisions into comprehensive wealth planning opportunities

  • Significant experience advising sophisticated clients and families on high-value, complex decisions, with the executive presence and judgment necessary to serve as a trusted subject-matter authority to both clients and advisors

*Candidates that live within a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office four days per week.
