Full job description

Job Description

Insight Global is looking to hire an Databricks Enterprise Architect (Data & Employee Systems) to support a DHS program focused on modernizing and streamlining employee data. This individual will serve as a senior technical leader responsible for designing the Databricks data lake architecture, establishing the structure and governance needed to maintain it, and helping standardize and cleanse employee data across the organization. The goal is to create a centralized, reliable employee data environment that gives analysts consistent, clean data for reporting and supports OCHCO’s long-term data and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architecture Design: Design end-to-end data architecture for employee data (HR, payroll, benefits, performance, etc.) on Databricks, including data Lakehouse structure, pipelines, and governance layers.
  • Policy & Standards Translation: Convert company policy (e.g., data privacy, retention, access control) and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2, HIPAA where relevant) into concrete technical architecture and data models.
  • Business Logic Implementation: Partner with HR, Legal, and business stakeholders to encode business rules (eligibility, compensation logic, org hierarchy, etc.) directly into the data architecture.
  • Governance & Security: Define data access controls, lineage tracking, and audit mechanisms using Databricks Unity Catalog or equivalent governance tools.
  • Platform Leadership: Set best practices for Databricks usage across the organization — including Delta Lake, workflows, cluster management, and cost optimization.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with data engineers, security teams, HR systems owners, and compliance officers to ensure the architecture meets both technical and regulatory needs.
  • Documentation & Roadmap: Maintain architecture diagrams, data dictionaries, and a roadmap for evolving the employee data platform.

Compensation: $76.73/hr to $81.73/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Employees in this role will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package starting on day one of employment, including options for medical, dental, and vision insurance. Eligibility to enroll in the 401(k) retirement plan begins after 90 days of employment. Additionally, employees in this role will have access to paid sick leave and other paid time off benefits as required under the applicable law of the worksite location.

Skills and Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a DHS EOD security clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field and 7+ years of related professional experience
  • Strong hands-on Databricks architecture and implementation experience, including designing and building enterprise-scale data lake/lakehouse environments using Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Workflows, and cluster/compute management
  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise-level data architectures, including data lake or lakehouse environments
  • Strong understanding of data governance, privacy regulations, access controls, and compliance requirements
  • Experience translating business and legal policies into technical specifications
  • Experience with data modeling, including dimensional modeling and master data management
  • Experience working with Azure and/or AWS within a Databricks environment
  • Hands-on implementation experience, with the ability to build and implement solutions rather than solely designing architecture
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Databricks Certifications (e.g., Databricks Certified Data Engineer or Architect)
  • Experience designing enterprise-level data architecture for HR/employee Data or other sensitive datasets
  • Experience with HRIS platforms (Peoplesoft, Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, etc.) and integrating them into a data Lakehouse
  • Background in enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman)
  • Federal or DHS background/experience
