Full job description

Description

We are seeking a skilled Low Voltage Cable Technician to join our team. This role will be responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting structured cabling systems, CCTV cameras, access control systems, and fiber optic infrastructure for commercial and industrial environments.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic cabling, CCTV systems, and access control installations and be comfortable working independently or as part of a project team.

Responsibilities

  • Install, pull, label, and terminate Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cabling.

  • Install and support CCTV camera systems, including IP-based surveillance solutions.

  • Install and configure access control devices including card readers, door contacts, mag locks, strikes, and request-to-exit devices.

  • Terminate and test copper and fiber cabling using appropriate testing equipment.

  • Perform cable routing through ceilings, walls, conduits, and cable trays.

  • Install racks, patch panels, network cabinets, and support equipment.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, site drawings, and wiring diagrams.

  • Document completed installations and update project records.

  • Troubleshoot cabling, camera, access control, and network connectivity issues.

  • Ensure all work is completed safely and according to company and industry standards.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of low voltage installation experience.

  • Experience pulling and terminating Cat5e and Cat6 cabling.

  • Experience with CCTV camera installations.

  • Experience installing access control systems.

  • Familiarity with patch panels, RJ45 terminations, and cable testing.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and floor plans.

  • Experience using cable certification and testing equipment.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fiber optic termination and testing experience.

  • Experience with commercial security systems.

  • Knowledge of door hardware, mag locks, and card access systems.

  • BICSI, OSHA, or manufacturer certifications.

  • Experience working in healthcare, education, industrial, or commercial environments.
