Collections Specialist

Description We are looking for a Collections Specialist to support business-to-business receivables efforts for a Real Estate & Property organization in Rockville, Maryland. This is a Contract position requiring onsite attendance for a 40-hour work week. The person in this role will help maintain healthy cash flow by managing collection activities, resolving billing issues, and building productive relationships with commercial clients.

Responsibilities:

• Manage business-to-business collection activity by following up on outstanding balances and encouraging timely payment from commercial accounts.

• Review aging reports and account histories to identify delinquent balances, prioritize collection efforts, and document next steps.

• Communicate with clients by phone, email, and virtual meetings to address payment concerns, clarify account status, and secure resolution.

• Investigate billing discrepancies and coordinate with internal partners to resolve invoice or payment issues affecting account settlement.

• Maintain accurate records of collection outreach, payment commitments, disputes, and account updates in company systems.

• Monitor customer accounts to reduce overdue receivables while supporting productive relationships with clients.

• Escalate complex collection matters when needed and assist with structured resolution plans for past-due accounts. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree is required.

• Experience with commercial collections in a business-to-business environment is required.

• Working knowledge of consumer collections, credit and collections practices, and standard collection procedures.

• Ability to manage billing collection activities with strong attention to accuracy and follow-through.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to handle client discussions professionally.

• Comfortable working onsite in Rockville, Maryland for a permanent 40-hour weekly schedule.

• Proficiency in organizing account information, tracking follow-up actions, and meeting collection deadlines.
