Full job description
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is responsible for managing and protecting the state’s renewable natural resources, including all wildlife and aquatic life. LDWF supports a strong work ethic in its employees and incorporates the use of good science, accurate information, and technology. This position will help create and manage programs designed to engage the non-hunter and angler population by promoting non-consumptive opportunities (hiking, kayaking, birding, etc.) on LDWF-owned and managed properties as well as increasing public exposure and engagement in LDWF’s education, species, and habitat management programs across the state of Louisiana. This position will also create and modify curricula to bring Conservation Education into the classroom. The successful applicant must have a passion for engaging and teaching others how to interact with Louisiana’s natural resources and an ability to bring new ideas to the table in regard to educational programs.
Eight years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience plus five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
A bachelor's degree plus five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
An advanced degree plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services. Job Duties:• Promoting available non-consumptive activity information for various department-managed properties

Community education on safe practices for interacting with nature/wildlife

Community education on safety information regarding kayaking and other aquatic activities

Outreach programs and events for specific non-consumptive activities

Promoting and engaging public involvement that highlights existing department programs

Developing relationships with non-profit conservation groups to promote and enhance program objectives
Position-Specific Details:
The position is domiciled in East Baton Rouge Parish, but the program is statewide; frequent in-state overnight travel will be requiredAppointment Type: Probational Appointment, Detail to Special Duty, Promotion (open to all statewide classified and agency-wide permanent status employees). Current permanent status classified state employees may be required to accept a Probational appointment if selected. Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience
