Job Title: Adjunct - EnglishAgency: Georgia Piedmont Technical College Job Requisition ID: JR0000004494Shift: Any (United States of America)Compensation Details: $60K ANNUALLY Job Description: POSITION: ENGLISH INSTRUCTOR- FULL TIME LOCATION: Hybrid: Some Remote; Dekalb Campus DESCRIPTION: Georgia Piedmont Technical College is accepting applications for a Full Time English Instructor for Arts & Sciences Program. Under general supervision, prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical/occupational courses at a technical college. Instruction will include both lecture and laboratory activities and may involve internet classes. The instructor must possess the ability to teach all phases of the program curriculum to adults or high school students participating in college-level classes at the college or at participating area high schools. The instructor will report to the School Dean. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill and/or ability required. · Demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques · Demonstrates the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping required · Understands and is experienced in practices and procedures necessary to effectively teach the subject matter · Follows approved course syllabi · Completes all documentation related to assigned courses in a timely manner · Maintains an accurate inventory of all assigned property Day, evening and online classes may be available based on scheduling needs MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in English. Appropriate degree must reflect the requirements of the College’s accrediting agency. The successful candidate may also hold a Master’s degree in a related field provided they have also completed at least 18 graduate semester hours (or equivalent quarter hours) in the program of study. Requires strong computer skills, communication skills, and ability to interact effectively with a diverse student population. Position may require day/evening/distance learning classes and activities. Position may involve courses at Dual Enrollment Academies or High School sites. The successful candidate must be willing to work teaching shifts that might require split teaching days, and/or multiple campuses. All Official Transcripts are required within 60 days of employment. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching at collegiate level preferred.
