Full job description
About the Role
The Discovery team sits at the intersection of product analytics and operations within Uber Eats, owning one of the highest-leverage surfaces on the platform, how millions of eaters discover restaurants, grocery, and retail stores every day. This is not a traditional operations role. You will spend the majority of your time deep in data, writing complex SQL, building analytical frameworks, and running experiments that directly shape search ranking and cross-LOB placement across Uber Eats.
You will be the analytical backbone for Search, partnering hands-on with Product, Data Science, S&P, Marketing, CRM, and peer Ops teams to translate massive datasets into actionable insights that influence ranking algorithms, drive experimentation roadmaps, and optimize how traffic is allocated across restaurants, grocery, and retail. If you thrive on navigating ambiguity with data rather than playbooks, and want to see your analysis directly move product decisions at scale, this is the role.
What You'll Do
-
Own search analytics end-to-end: Write complex SQL queries against large-scale datasets to analyze search ranking performance, cross-LOB store and item placement, and conversion patterns across categories
-
Build analytical products: Create and maintain dashboards, automated reporting, and monitoring tools that give Product, Ops, and Leadership real-time visibility into search health, ranking quality, and surface-level KPIs (conversion, GMV, engagement)
-
Translate data into product influence: Synthesize operational and behavioral insights into clear recommendations that shape the search product roadmap, identifying ranking biases, surfacing gaps in cross-LOB allocation, and quantifying the impact of proposed changes
-
Collaborate cross-functionally: Work across Product, Data Science, S&P, Marketing, CRM, and regional Ops teams to ensure search strategy is grounded in data and aligned across stakeholders. Serve as the connective tissue between operational reality and product development
-
Manage programs and projects: Independently drive multiple workstreams from competitive search intelligence to new surface launches tracking details, managing timelines, and delivering in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift
-
Scale shared surface governance: Contribute to Share of Voice frameworks and traffic allocation governance across Restaurants, Grocery, and Retail on shared discovery surfaces
Basic Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics) or equivalent practical experience
-
5+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, data analysis, or analytically-heavy operations roles
-
Advanced SQL proficiency, write complex, production-quality queries against large-scale data warehouses (Hive/Presto or equivalent)
-
Hands-on experience with Python or R for data manipulation, analysis, and automation
-
Experience building dashboards and automated reporting that serve cross-functional stakeholders
-
Demonstrated track record of using data to influence product or business decisions in a cross-functional environment
Preferred Qualifications
-
5+ years of professional work experience in a related field, such as consulting, investment banking, strategy, operations, or analytics
-
Strong Excel/Google Sheets or SQL proficiency
-
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment
-
Experience problem-solving and proposing unique solutions to complex issues
-
Strong experience building and executing complex processes
-
Strong communication and presentation skills, including experience presenting data & insights to a sophisticated audience
-
Experience with quantitative data analysis to provide deep measurable insights
-
Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills - building deep, trust-based relationships with teams and cross-functional partners
-
Strong business judgment and critical thinking skills with the ability to use data to develop strategies and make decisions quickly
