Associate Systems Engineer
Company: The Boeing Company
The Boeing Defense (BDS), Security, Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) is seeking multiple Associate Systems Engineers to join our Experimental Systems Group (ESG) at Kennedy Space Center, FL.
At Boeing, our Systems Engineers drive the innovation, development, evaluation, and end-to-end execution of validation methods and test systems across manufacturing, refurbishment, integrated vehicle testing, and operational checkout. In this role, you will operate across multiple engineering disciplines to verify system-of-systems performance, serving as the technical bridge between design intent, physical hardware validation, and flight readiness through the following responsibilities.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assist with the definition and mapping of system-level test and verification requirements derived from customer, mission, and operational needs
- Support the integration of cross-functional parameters across electrical, mechanical, fluids, thermal, and software interfaces to verify baseline end-to-end compatibility
- Participate in basic system analyses—including safety, reliability, maintainability, and testability parameters—to monitor baseline quality factors
- Maintain verification tracking records using formal tools, logging requirements status, risk metrics, and readiness milestones under the guidance of senior staff
- Represent the test team locally on the floor, tracking day-to-day progress through hardware builds, testing sequences, and refurbishment cycles
- Execute pre-defined system test procedures, monitoring real-time telemetry limits, instrumentation setups, and standard acceptance criteria
- Draft initial technical descriptions and log documentation for hardware non-conformances, limit exceedances, or test anomalies to maintain data integrity
- Support failure investigation efforts, collecting test data and running initial troubleshooting scripts to isolate component-level operational anomalies
- Perform routine maintenance and updates to test infrastructure, instrumentation setups, and standard lab environments to support scheduled test cadences
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
- Active U.S. Top Secret / SCI U.S. security clearance (investigation active or open within the past 24 months; U.S. citizenship required)
- 3+ years of experience in an engineering role
- Ability to analyze and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and parts lists
- Strong skills in engineering analysis, requirements tracing, and technical communication
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Foundational exposure to system-level test, checkout, or verification procedures for space vehicles or space systems
- Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional and multi-discipline engineering environments
- Basic knowledge of aerospace avionics, electrical configurations, and standard lab test equipment
- Familiarity with fundamental troubleshooting, assembly, or evaluation techniques for electronic components
- Baseline scripting familiarity for running pre-written test automation or processing data logs (e.g., Python, Tcl/Tk, Perl)
- Basic exposure to configuration management and task tracking workflows (e.g., Git, SVN, PLM, Jira, MS Project)
