Full job description
Description We are looking for a Medical Reimbursement Specialist to join a social services organization in Raleigh, North Carolina. This contract position offers a path to a permanent role and will support payer and contract operations by helping manage reimbursement documentation, coordinating implementation activities, and maintaining accurate contract records across the organization. The role works closely with internal departments and external payer partners to keep contract processes organized, timely, and aligned with operational needs.
Responsibilities:

Manage electronic and physical contract documentation, ensuring records, amendments, rate updates, and related files remain accurate and accessible.

Oversee key contract milestones such as renewal timelines, notice requirements, effective dates, and follow-up actions to support uninterrupted administration.

Facilitate routing, review, and approval steps for agreements while keeping contract lifecycle tracking tools current.

Partner with payer contacts and internal teams to support contract onboarding, implementation tasks, and communication of reimbursement or agreement changes.

Monitor payer bulletins, policy revisions, and reimbursement updates, then summarize relevant impacts for stakeholders and leadership.

Research contract terms and compile supporting materials to assist with management review, issue resolution, negotiations, and reimbursement analysis.

Help identify and address payment variances, implementation concerns, and other contract-related issues in collaboration with operational and revenue teams.

Work with Finance, Compliance, Credentialing, Quality, Operations, and program leadership to support contract administration, audits, and departmental initiatives.

Contribute to the setup, maintenance, and ongoing use of contract management systems, including Contract Solutions, and assist with workflow readiness activities as needed. Requirements • Associate degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Legal Studies, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

At least 3 years of experience in healthcare contracting, payer relations, contract administration, revenue cycle, healthcare operations, or a similar area.

Working knowledge of healthcare agreements, payer structures, reimbursement methods, and explanation of benefits review.

Experience supporting medical billing, insurance reimbursement processes, payment posting, or contract renewal administration.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret contract language, investigate discrepancies, and organize supporting documentation.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, Word, SharePoint, and Teams.

Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.

Ability to maintain confidentiality, use sound judgment, and collaborate professionally with cross-functional teams and external payer representatives.
