Full job description

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

ABOUT THE TEAM The Legal Operations team is responsible for optimizing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Legal Department at Anduril and works cross-functionally to streamline workflows, automate routine tasks, implement best practices and support regulatory compliance efforts. With the overarching aim of supporting the Company’s overall strategic goals, the Legal Operations team acts as a bridge between legal, the Company’s business units, and outside counsel. ABOUT THE JOB We are looking for a Legal Operations Engineer to join our rapidly growing team on-site in Costa Mesa, California. This is a hands-on technical execution role where you’ll serve as the operational backbone for the Legal Department’s technology ecosystem for our fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team. You will spend real time in Jira, Airtable, Foundry, our CLM, and the seams between them. Expect to move between a same-day fix for a business partner who can't get a document routed, a data cleanup across a few thousand contract records, and a configuration change that shaves a step out of an approval chain.

You will become a member of the team who knows how every one of these systems actually behaves, not just how it is supposed to work, which is the foundation for designing the next generation of them. As you build that fluency and demonstrate technical judgment, the work shifts from maintaining to building: scoping requirements, designing automated workflows, and eventually taking point on new system implementations as this function grows.

If you are scrappy, technically curious, allergic to manual work a machine could do, and comfortable being the person who gets pinged when a workflow breaks, this role is for you. WHAT YOU'LL DO Systems Administration & Operational Excellence

  • Integrate into the Legal Department's intake and support queue in Jira - triaging tickets, setting expectations, resolving requests, and escalating what needs a lawyer's judgment to gain first-hand knowledge of our fundamental workflows
  • Serve as frontline administrator and first responder for our legal systems, including CLM, e-signature, matter management, document management, e-billing, and AI tooling - access, permissions, templates, configuration, and break/fix
  • Monitor existing automations and integrations for failures, diagnose root causes, and fix them
  • Execute recurring operational work: user provisioning and offboarding, template updates, approval routing changes, access reviews, and system hygiene checks
  • Maintain data integrity and quality across contract and matter management systems - establishing metadata standards, field hygiene, bulk updates, deduplication, and cleanup ahead of reporting cycles
  • Produce and refresh recurring reporting and dashboards on cycle times, request volume, contract throughput, and outside counsel spend

Process Improvements

  • Make incremental improvements to existing workflows: reduce manual steps, tighten validation, add conditional logic, eliminate the failure modes you keep seeing in the queue
  • Build automations and integrations to close gaps between systems using no-code/low-code platforms, APIs, and scripting
  • Track recurring pain points from the ticket queue and surface them to Legal Ops with a proposed fix and a rough sense of effort
  • Assist with data migrations and configuration changes during larger Legal Ops initiatives
  • Support AI tooling in the department - prompt and template maintenance, output quality spot-checks, and honest reporting on where the tool isn't working

Growing into

  • Driving tool adoption through training, office hours, and enablement materials - including the follow-up that turns a launched tool into one people actually use
  • Scoping and designing new workflows and lightweight applications from ambiguous requirements, with increasing autonomy over time
  • Translating what lawyers, paralegals and peer operations associates need into technical requirements, then building, documenting, and supporting the result
  • Taking a lead technical role in new system implementations and vendor evaluations
  • Partnering with IT, Security, Procurement, and Finance on integrations, vendor onboarding, data handling, and export control requirements
  • Shaping the technical direction of the Legal Department's tooling as this function expands

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in legal operations, legal technology, systems administration, technical support, or a comparable operations/tooling role
  • Hands-on experience administering or supporting at least one business system end user - CLM, matter management, e-billing, document management, e-signature, CRM, or similar
  • Demonstrated technical execution capability: you have built automations in a no-code/low-code platform, written scripts or queries, or worked with APIs - and you can describe something specific you built and the problem it solved
  • Track record working an operational queue with volume and shifting priority, and closing tickets rather than accumulating them
  • Proficiency in productivity & management tools such as Airtable, Slack, DocuSign, Jira, Salesforce, Oracle ERP, and/or Foundry, and experience in learning new platforms quickly
  • Working understanding of contracts and legal workflows - enough to know what a redline, a signature block, an approval threshold, and a retention obligation are, and why they matter
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain a technical constraint to a lawyer and a legal requirement to an engineer
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy; you understand that in legal systems a silent data error is worse than a loud outage
  • The ability to build strong relationships within the team and cross-functionally, including IT, Security, Real Estate, Procurement, Finance, and Growth/Business Development stakeholders
  • Solutions oriented, with a bias toward automation, process optimization and scalable systems over manual workarounds
  • Quick learner and independent performer; you're able to work with autonomy and are eager to make an impact on an organization including in topics that may be completely new to you
  • Willing to wear multiple hats with shifting priorities and work on projects of all types, big and small
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • A positive, team player attitude, good judgment, and eagerness to help others
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Passion for national security and changing the landscape of defense contracting
  • Experience with startup, defense, and/or in-house at a high-growth company
  • Experience at a law firm, ALSP, or legal technology vendor, particularly in an implementation, solutions, or support capacity
  • Experience building against REST APIs and webhooks, or working with structured data at scale (SQL or equivalent)
  • Experience with Palantir Foundry or a comparable data platform
  • Experience with LLM-based tooling in a production workflow
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, paralegal certificate, or equivalent demonstrated capability - we care more about what you've built than how you got here
  • Experience with government contracting, export controls (ITAR/EAR), or a regulated data environment
