Full job description

Description

Amazon Global Engineering Services (GES) is seeking a results-driven and customer-obsessed Supply Chain Manager to support and improve the ordering function for new build infrastructure and expansion/retrofit projects within our Global Engineering Materials and Sustainability (GEMS) Organization. This individual will contribute to the vision for ordering operations by executing and refining scalable processes, identifying opportunities to leverage AI and automation for efficiency gains, and partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver outcomes across a portfolio of 450+ projects valued at $5B+.

This role requires someone who is comfortable working in ambiguous environments, can identify and solve problems with guidance from leadership, and drives meaningful improvements within their area of ownership. The ideal candidate will balance tactical execution with developing strategic thinking, operating as both a process improver and a reliable partner to stakeholders.

This is an office-based role requiring regular presence at a corporate location, with up to 10% nationwide travel as needed. Candidates should either live near or be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of the office. Relocation assistance may be provided.

Key job responsibilities

Process Ownership & Execution

  • Own and execute key components of the ordering function's roadmap, identifying opportunities to improve cycle times, reduce defects, and increase quality within assigned workstreams.

  • Implement and refine scalable processes, standard operating procedures, and mechanisms that support the team's ability to manage growth effectively.

  • Identify opportunities to apply AI, automation, and tooling improvements to reduce manual effort and improve workflow efficiency within defined scope areas.

Process Improvement & Operational Rigor

  • Drive process improvement initiatives across assigned areas of the ordering lifecycle, establishing mechanisms that reduce variance and improve compliance with procurement standards.

  • Own and maintain KPIs and metrics that provide visibility into ordering health, catalog accuracy, purchase order issuance quality, and inventory receiving performance.

  • Conduct deep-dive analyses on recurring issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions that improve outcomes within the team's scope.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Partnership

  • Partner with teams across multiple organizations (Finance, Launch, GPO, etc.) to align on standards and drive adoption of ordering best practices within assigned areas.

  • Contribute to executive-level communication including Monthly Business Reviews by preparing data, insights, and supporting materials that inform leadership decisions.

  • Work with technical teams to define requirements for system enhancements and tool improvements that support the ordering process.

Operational Excellence & Team Contribution

  • Support the establishment and maintenance of service level agreements (SLAs) with internal customers, helping to monitor performance and escalate issues as needed.

  • Contribute to training programs and knowledge management efforts that enable effective onboarding and reduce key-person dependencies.

  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts by contributing to feedback loops, retrospectives, and mechanisms that capture learnings and share best practices across the team.
