Job Description

Insight Global seeks a Lead System Test Architect Engineer for a leading global manufacturing and product-development client. This individual will provide key technical leadership in developing and standardizing system-level test strategies, requirements, and verification and validation methodologies for physical products. The ideal candidate combines hands-on product testing experience with strong requirements engineering, statistical analysis, failure investigation, and process-development expertise. This person will not simply execute existing test procedures, but will help build the methodologies, systems, and standards that engineering teams use to consistently verify and validate new products. The position offers an opportunity to join a growing engineering organization where the individual can remain technically hands-on while helping shape future test capabilities, processes, and teams.

Day-to-Day

  • Develop and standardize system-level test methods and processes for physical products
  • Translate product and system requirements into test strategies, protocols, acceptance criteria, and validation methods
  • Lead verification and validation planning throughout the product-development lifecycle
  • Ensure requirements are measurable, testable, and properly validated
  • Develop robust, repeatable testing methodologies that can be adopted consistently across engineering teams
  • Lead physical product testing and analyze results to support engineering and design decisions
  • Partner with CAE teams to correlate simulation/modeling results with physical test results
  • Develop and validate test fixtures, equipment, instrumentation, and laboratory processes
  • Perform failure investigations and root cause analysis
  • Identify opportunities to improve testing through automation, data acquisition, statistical methods, and process improvements
  • Partner across Design Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Reliability, CAE, and Program Management
  • Create test plans, procedures, engineering reports, work instructions, and technical documentation
  • Mentor engineers and technicians on testing methodologies and engineering best practices Help establish the testing systems and processes needed as the Product Execution organization continues to mature

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or closely related engineering discipline

  • Approximately 10+ years of experience in test engineering, systems testing, product verification/validation, or test-method development

  • Experience working with manufactured physical products, such as electromechanical, mechanical, industrial, automotive, aerospace, or consumer products

  • Strong requirements engineering experience, including developing requirements and translating those requirements into testable/validated criteria

  • Experience developing and implementing test strategies, test methods, protocols, and acceptance criteria

  • Strong verification and validation (V&V) experience throughout the product-development lifecycle

  • Hands-on experience designing, executing, or improving physical product testing

  • Experience analyzing test data and using statistics/experimental design to make engineering decisions

  • Ability to investigate failures, perform root cause analysis, and drive corrective action

  • Experience building or improving test systems/processes, rather than solely following established procedures

  • Experience partnering cross-functionally with design, quality, manufacturing, reliability, CAE, and other engineering teams Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, even if the candidate hasn't formally managed direct reports

  • Master's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline

  • Experience with test automation

  • Experience with data acquisition systems and instrumentation

  • Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing experience

  • Experience correlating CAE/simulation results with physical testing

  • Experience developing or validating test fixtures and laboratory equipment

  • Reliability engineering/testing background

  • Familiarity with applicable regulatory, certification, and product-compliance testing

  • Experience establishing test standards or methodologies across multiple engineering/product teams

  • Experience mentoring engineers or technicians

  • Experience helping build a test organization, laboratory capability, or engineering function from the ground up Automotive, aerospace, defense, industrial products, advanced consumer products, or similarly complex manufacturing background
