Full job description
Bevi is on a mission to transform how beverages are delivered and consumed. Our connected beverage platform eliminates the need for single-use bottles and cans, making it easy, fun, and sustainable to stay hydrated. As the category leader in IoT-enabled beverage technology, we're building a future where Bevi machines are everywhere people live, work, and connect. We've raised over $160M in venture capital, serve thousands of customers across the US, Canada, UK and Ireland, and we've been rapidly growing year over year, saving over 1 billion bottles from waste. In addition to driving hypergrowth with our current product line, Bevi is heavily investing in new product development.
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director, Hardware Quality Engineering to build and lead Bevi's hardware quality organization and shape the company's quality strategy across our product portfolio. This leader will develop a strong, self-sufficient team and drive the long-term roadmap for product reliability, supplier quality, and field performance, ensuring Bevi's systems deliver an exceptional customer experience and operational excellence at scale. You'll lead and grow a team of quality engineers and technicians, including hiring into open roles, and work closely with senior leaders in Hardware Engineering, Software, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Operations. The ideal candidate is a builder and a coach who has a track record of growing engineers into stronger contributors and leaders, combined with deep technical expertise and the ability to influence at the executive level. Your Day to Day
- Build the team: hire into open roles, set clear roles and career paths, and create a culture of accountability, data-driven decisions, and continuous improvement
- Coach and mentor quality engineers and technicians through regular feedback, stretch assignments, and hands-on guidance, so the team can own problems end to end
- Set the vision and strategy for hardware quality across design, manufacturing, and field performance to support Bevi's growth and product roadmap
- Partner cross-functionally with Engineering (hardware, firmware, and software), Manufacturing, and Supply Chain leadership to ensure quality and reliability are embedded early in product design and supplier selection
- Partner closely with the Director of Test & Reliability so reliability findings feed directly into quality systems, supplier actions, and field improvement
- Own quality deliverables at each NPI phase gate, including quality planning, first article inspection, and launch readiness
- Establish and scale quality systems and processes that enable global manufacturing readiness, including supplier qualification, process capability, and failure analysis
- Drive systemic root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (8D, RCCA) for complex product and supplier issues, including issues that cross hardware, firmware, and software, using data to guide prioritization and improvement
- Oversee supplier and contract manufacturer quality performance, including audits, scorecards, and escalation management
- Monitor and drive key metrics for warranty, RMA, and field performance to ensure Bevi's hardware meets and exceeds customer expectations
- Represent Quality Engineering in cross-functional reviews and executive discussions, providing clear, data-backed insights and recommendations
Requirements
- Passion for building world-class products and systems that delight customers and scale reliably
- Proven track record of hiring, coaching, and developing quality engineers, including growing people into larger roles
- Proven success leading hardware quality or reliability engineering at the Director or senior manager level in a high-growth or consumer hardware environment
- Strong foundation in quality engineering principles (FMEA, GR&R, SPC, DOE, reliability growth modeling, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience with electromechanical systems, consumer electronics, or commercial appliances
- Experience leading supplier quality management, including audits, process validation, and NPI launch readiness
- Strong communicator who can influence across functions and levels, translating complex data into business-relevant insights
- 10+ years in hardware quality or reliability engineering, with at least 5 years leading and developing teams
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field)
- Ability to be in the office 3 to 5 days per week and travel up to 30% (domestic and international)
Nice to Have
- Experience with connected (IoT) products where firmware and software drive field performance
- Experience with fluid systems, refrigeration, or commercial beverage equipment
- Experience building quality systems at a scaling company
- ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA)
Compensation
- Base Salary Range: $184,620 – $228,060 per year
- Bonus: Eligible for the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) Bonus Program
