Full job description
Description We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to support accurate and timely payroll operations for a diverse client base in Lindon, Utah. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage multiple payroll cycles, and delivers excellent service while maintaining strict accuracy. The role requires strong knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations, careful recordkeeping, and a proactive approach to resolving payroll issues.
Responsibilities:

Administer complete payroll processing for multiple client accounts, ensuring timely completion across weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly schedules.

Review and update employee payroll data, including onboarding details, separations, compensation changes, garnishments, deductions, and benefits-related adjustments.

Reconcile payroll registers and verify batch accuracy before final submission to prevent payment discrepancies.

Handle special payroll situations such as off-cycle payments, manual checks, voided checks, and payroll reversals when required.

Address payroll-related questions from clients and employees regarding earnings statements, direct deposit setup, tax withholding, and year-end forms in a responsive manner.

Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local payroll requirements across multiple jurisdictions and support accurate tax-related processing.

Work closely with HR, benefits, and tax teams to investigate discrepancies and maintain smooth payroll operations for assigned accounts.

Preserve accurate payroll documentation and assist with quarter-end and year-end activities, including preparation of W-2 records. Requirements • At least 2 years of direct experience processing payroll from input through final submission.

Background working in a detail-oriented employer organization environment with exposure to high-volume, multi-client payroll operations.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting strict deadlines and maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Solid understanding of multi-state payroll, payroll taxes, wage and hour regulations, and garnishment administration.

Strong client-facing communication skills with a detail-oriented and service-driven approach.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including lookups and basic formulas used for payroll auditing and reconciliation.

Experience supporting large payroll populations, including manual payroll adjustments when necessary.

Familiarity with PrismHR, payroll certifications, or payroll tax filing and amendment experience is an advantage.
