Full job description
Company Overview
Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. At Joby, we've been working to make that dream a reality since 2009 and we're now in the final stages of certifying our aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.
Overview
The Elevate Edge Applications Team (EEAT) builds the software that sits closest to Joby's physical operations - charging infrastructure, maintenance tooling, configuration tracking, and operational intelligence.
As a Product Manager on EEAT, you will own one or more of the near aircraft product surfaces end to end, from problem definition through launch and adoption. You will spend real time on the hangar floor and on the ramp with the technicians, maintenance planners, and test engineers who use these tools, and turn what you learn there into a roadmap that engineering can build against.
This is a hands-on product role in a hardware-constrained, regulated environment. Your users are a few hundred feet away, your release windows are shaped by aircraft availability, and the traceability requirements are real. You will work as a peer to engineers and designers, and as the connective tissue between EEAT and the operations, maintenance, and flight test organizations we serve.
Responsibilities
-
Develop deep domain fluency in the workflows you support, including maintenance execution, aircraft software configuration, and charging operations
-
Write clear PRDs and requirements that engineers can build from without guesswork, and keep them current as the aircraft and the operation change
-
Partner with designers and engineers as a thought partner through discovery, definition, build, and launch
-
Run discovery directly with users in the hangar, on the ramp, and in the field, and convert observed work into prioritized problems rather than feature requests
-
Manage stakeholders across Operations, Tech Ops, and Flight Test, and build alignment on sequencing when their needs conflict
-
Define adoption and usability metrics, instrument for them, and use them to decide what to build next and what to retire
-
Drive releases into an environment with hardware dependencies, limited test windows, and real consequences for regressions
-
Leverage AI in your own product workflows to accelerate research, synthesis, and specification, and identify where AI meaningfully improves the end-user experience
Required
-
BA/BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or a comparable technical field, or equivalent experience
-
5+ years of product management experience, including ownership of complex internal, enterprise, or operational software
-
Strong technical judgment and the ability to hold substantive design and architecture conversations with engineers
-
Experience running user discovery and validation directly with the people doing the work
-
Excellent written communication, with writing PRDs you can speak to
-
Proven track record of shipping from concept to launch in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
-
Experience leveraging AI tools and workflows to accelerate product work
-
Excellent problem-solving skills, a proactive mindset, and demonstrated ability to work effectively across teams
-
Ability to do lightweight data analysis, including SQL, to answer your own product questions
Desired
-
Background in aviation, aerospace, defense, or another regulated industry
-
Experience with maintenance, MRO, fleet operations, or asset management software
-
Familiarity with hardware-adjacent software, including test systems, telemetry, firmware distribution, or industrial equipment
-
Experience in operations, transportation, automotive, energy, or logistics environments
