Commercial Loan Operations Specialist Lead

The Commercial Loan Operations Specialist Lead provides operational support for an array of banking commercial products. Under limited supervision, this job works on projects and prospects associated with commercial operations by coordinating data input processes, quality control, client statement preparations and error identification. This job solves escalated reporting issues and consistently works to maintain the accuracy of the company's commercial loan management system.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Coordinates processing of commercial banking operations such as loans, letters of credit and banking guarantees.

  • Ensures accuracy, quality and completeness of data inputs from loan applications and related documentation into a commercial loan management system.

  • Supports preparation of statements for clients, along with conducting reconciliation and investigation efforts when needed.

  • Retrieves and provides information on existing loans to clients as requested.

  • Ensures best practices for resolving out-of-balance transactions are followed.

  • Identifies and corrects erroneous transactions and reports major issues to senior colleagues for issue resolution.

  • Trains, delegates and reviews work of junior colleagues to ensure high-quality delivery of services and products.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience servicing Asset-Backed Finance (ABF) and/or Commercial Loan portfolios.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create and maintain complex formulas, PivotTables, lookup functions (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP), conditional formatting, and data validation tools.

  • Demonstrated experience calculating interest accruals and analyzing, reconciling, and managing large data sets with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Proven ability to process and manage loan transactions, including advances, repayments, and disbursements, while ensuring accurate loan booking and documentation.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with the FIS Commercial Loan Servicing System (also known as ACBS).

  • Experience leading end-to-end servicing activities for complex Commercial, Asset-Backed Finance (ABF), and Commercial Real Estate (CRE) loan portfolios, including bilateral, syndicated, and participated loan structures.

  • Serve as the primary servicing point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Review, validate, and process complex loan transactions, including new deal onboarding, modifications, tranche setup, advances, repayments, and disbursements.

  • Conduct quality reviews and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to maintain strong operational controls, data integrity, and regulatory compliance.

  • Support operational improvement initiatives, system enhancements, process optimization efforts, and user acceptance testing (UAT) activities.

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment, analyze complex situations, and proactively identify, investigate, and resolve loan servicing issues.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively partner with clients, investors, relationship managers, and cross-functional teams to support ongoing servicing needs and deliver exceptional service.

  • Experience serving in an agent bank capacity for bilateral and syndicated loan facilities, including coordinating funding activities, payment distributions, and communications among participating financial institutions.
