Job Requirements

At Disney Theatrical Group we strive to create a culture of innovation, inclusion, collaboration, and creativity. Stories shape how we see ourselves and everyone around us. As storytellers, we have the power to not only uplift and inspire, but also to champion the spectrum of voices in our world. If you want to help tell compelling, diverse, and enduring stories through live theater, we want to hear from you.

Disney Theatrical Group is seeking an experienced, strategic, and highly collaborative Senior Press Agent to oversee publicity for its Broadway productions, including The Lion King , Aladdin , and Beauty and the Beast . This individual will develop and execute publicity strategies that strengthen the visibility and reputation of our productions, support audience engagement and commercial objectives, and reinforce Disney Theatrical Group’s leadership in live entertainment. The Senior Press Agent serves as a senior member of the publicity team, providing strategic counsel, leading day-to-day press operations, managing and developing Associate Press Agents, and partnering across DTG to deliver meaningful results. The position reports to the VP, Marketing, Publicity and Education.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, execute, and manage comprehensive publicity plans for The Lion King , Aladdin , and Beauty and the Beast , representing the productions and DTG in public-facing communications within the role’s scope. Ensure strategies reflect each production’s positioning, audience, and business priorities.

  • Lead and manage Associate Press Agents, establishing clear priorities, delegating responsibilities, providing regular feedback, and ensuring accountability for the quality, timeliness, and effectiveness of the team’s work. Encourage independent thinking, professional growth, and strong execution.

  • Partner closely with the VP, Marketing, Publicity and Education to establish publicity priorities, recommend strategic approaches, and ensure effective execution across Broadway productions.

  • Advise DTG leadership on publicity priorities and initiatives, providing senior-level counsel on opportunities, challenges, messaging, and communications, and bringing forward independent recommendations and solutions.

  • Develop proactive, creative publicity strategies that strengthen visibility and reputation and support business, commercial, and creative priorities. Partner with marketing, sales, and analytics to build audience interest, sustain demand, and reach new audiences.

  • Serve as a primary liaison between productions and media outlets, managing inquiries and interviews and building trusted relationships across traditional media, theater and entertainment press, digital platforms, content creators, and emerging channels.

  • Proactively champion original publicity opportunities, creative partnerships, cultural moments, and storytelling approaches that extend the relevance and reach of DTG productions beyond traditional theater media.

  • Maintain a strong understanding of evolving theater, journalism, entertainment, technology, and social media landscapes, applying that knowledge to reach audiences and keep established titles culturally relevant.

  • Work cross-functionally with creative, marketing, production, licensing, social media, and other internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and coordinated approaches that maximize audience engagement.

  • Identify and help navigate sensitive publicity issues and potential reputational risks, coordinating with DTG leadership, Corporate Communications, Legal, and other stakeholders on thoughtful and timely responses.

  • Lead publicity strategy and execution for Broadway openings, special events, anniversaries, awards campaigns, and other key moments, including press logistics and opportunities to extend impact beyond the events themselves.

  • Establish meaningful measures of publicity effectiveness, assessing the quality, reach, relevance, and impact of earned media coverage. Share insights and recommendations with leadership to inform future strategy and resource allocation.

  • Help shape the evolution of DTG’s publicity strategy and operations, strengthening processes, media relationships, team effectiveness, and departmental impact.

  • Ensure effective systems and processes for publicity reporting, media monitoring, and organizing press assets and materials.

Work Experience

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in press, publicity, or public relations, preferably in Broadway, live entertainment, or the broader entertainment industry, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and demonstrated leadership.

  • Current member in good standing with the Association of Theatrical Press Agents and Managers (ATPAM) or willingness to join.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience developing strategic publicity plans, advising senior leadership, independently identifying opportunities, and driving results.

  • Deep understanding of Broadway, entertainment, and the media ecosystem, established press relationships, and familiarity with digital platforms, emerging media, and evolving audience behaviors.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple high-profile productions and priorities simultaneously while exercising sound judgment and maintaining a high standard of execution.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly and effectively represent productions and DTG to media and the public.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across creative, marketing, production, and business teams.

  • Demonstrated success leading and developing teams, establishing expectations, giving constructive feedback, and fostering accountability, collaboration, and independent thinking.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, navigate sensitive issues, and represent DTG and its productions with professionalism and discretion.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop original publicity ideas and translate business and creative objectives into actionable communications strategies.

  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of how publicity supports audience development, brand relevance, and sustained success of live entertainment productions.
