At Jabil (NYSE: JBL), we are proud to be a trusted partner for the world's top brands, offering comprehensive engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing solutions. With 60 years of experience across industries and a vast network of over 100 sites worldwide, Jabil combines global reach with local expertise to deliver both scalable and customized solutions. Our commitment extends beyond business success as we strive to build sustainable processes that minimize environmental impact and foster vibrant and diverse communities around the globe.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Embedded Android BSP Engineer to contribute as an independent contractor on a long-term B2B basis to an international engineering project focused on the development of next-generation embedded Android/Linux platforms for advanced professional products used worldwide.
As part of the international engineering project team, you will contribute to commercially deployed products where platform stability, multimedia quality, connectivity, performance, and hardware/software integration directly impact the end-user experience in enterprise, education, conferencing, and professional environments.
Work deep inside the Android platform. This is not typical Android application development. You will work close to the hardware and across the Android stack, contributing to BSP development, AOSP customization, HAL integration, native system components, debugging, optimization, and system-level problem solving.
Take ownership of complex engineering challenges. You will investigate issues that rarely have simple answers, working across multiple layers of the system to understand root causes and deliver robust technical solutions from analysis through implementation and validation.
Contribute as a senior Android platform specialist. You will collaborate with experienced hardware, firmware, Android, Linux, and product engineers across countries, while deepening your expertise in Android internals, embedded Linux, BSP engineering, platform bring-up, multimedia, and low-level

Required Expertise
Must have
-
7+ years of embedded software development experience, including 2+ years with Embedded Android, AOSP, or Android platform-level development.
-
Strong C/C++ development skills for native, low-level, and performance-sensitive software.

Hands-on experience with Android BSP, AOSP build systems, HAL architecture, HIDL/AIDL, Android.bp/Android.mk, Soong/Ninja, and system services.
-
Experience with Android NDK, JNI, Binder, sockets, shared memory, or other IPC mechanisms.
-
Good knowledge of embedded Linux, Linux kernel interfaces, device drivers, and hardware communication concepts.
-
Experience debugging with tools such as ADB, GDB, Valgrind, Systrace/Perfetto, Wireshark, protocol analyzers, or similar tools.
-
Understanding of object-oriented design, SOLID principles, version control, and structured release/development workflows.
