Under the supervision of the Pathologist, performs designated functions of the gross post mortem examination

What you will do in this role:

• Ensures medical record and all appropriate release forms are procured.

• Maintains and prepares all necessary tools, supplies and protective equipment for autopsy.

• Cleans tools and supplies used during case.

• Cleans and prepares body for release to funeral home.

• Assists pathologist with preparation of organs and tissues for gross and microscopic examination.

• Performs other duties at direction of the Pathologist.

• Participates in performance improvement studies and evaluations of new methods and procedures.

• Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.

• Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.

• Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.

• Other duties as assigned.

** What Qualifications you will need:**

Education & Experience

• Associates Degree Preferred

• 1+ year of prior experience Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

• State of Florida Histology Technician License Preferred
