Responsibilities:

Collect, prepare, process, and analyze wastewater and sludge samples using established laboratory procedures
-
Perform physical, chemical and microbiological testing in accordance with approved methods including EPA and 40 CFR Part 136 requirements
-
Prepare reagents, standards, and calibration solutions for laboratory analyses
-
Operate, clean, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and instrumentation

Record test results and maintain accurate laboratory records, logs, and chain-of-custody documentation
-
Assist with quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) activities to support laboratory accreditation and regulatory compliance

Review analytical data for completeness and report unusual results to supervisory staff

Assist with the laboratory audits, inspections, proficiency testing and corrective action activities

Follow all laboratory safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE)

Support wastewater treatment operations by providing timely and accurate analytical data

Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization

Perform other related duties as assigned

Valid Driver’s License
-
Familiarity with laboratory equipment, data entry, Microsoft Office applications, or similar computer systems.

Ability to follow written procedures, maintain accurate records and perform routine mathematical calculations

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to quality and safety
-
Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a team environment
-
Must be available to work a schedule that includes one weekend day each week, as well as holidays, overtime, and on call as needed.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- Course work or education in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field
