Full job description

Compensation $170K – $300K • ASI is dedicated to maintaining fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range provided for this role reflects the minimum and maximum cash compensation targets for candidates across all U.S. locations and levels of expertise/experience. Additionally, all employees receive generous equity packages and have access to a comprehensive benefits offering. Actual compensation packages are determined based on relevant skills, experience, education and training. For more information, connect with the recruiting team or Hiring Manager during the process as they can provide more detailed information about the salary range based on the applicant’s position level and location within the overall range. About ASI is the frontier AI company that dynamically orchestrates critical infrastructure and defense assets, across air traffic control, energy, logistics, and combat operations. ASI's systems simulate physical operations, hours, days, and weeks ahead, so the people running air traffic control, the electric grid, and military operations can catch problems early and act before they spread. ASI is powering vital infrastructure for customers like United Airlines, National Grid, the Federal Aviation Administration, Delta Air Lines and the Department of War. ASI is headquartered in Boston with offices in Washington, DC, Denver, and Europe, and is backed by leading investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, Citadel Securities, and Spark Capital. About the Civil Aviation Team We are modernizing America’s air traffic control system on an accelerated timeline, tackling one of the world’s most complex real-time optimization challenges: safely coordinating tens of thousands of daily flights in a dynamic, safety-critical environment. Our team is building next-generation trajectory prediction and decision-support systems while preparing the airspace for emerging technologies like commercial space operations and advanced air mobility. This mission-critical work demands exceptional precision, resilience, and reliability to support the safety and efficiency of the national airspace. What You Will Do As a Cloud Platform Engineer on the Civil Aviation team, you will build and operate the cloud infrastructure powering mission-critical aviation systems used in real-world operations. This is a deeply hands-on role where you’ll work directly in production environments, ensuring systems are scalable, resilient, and continuously deployable. You’ll develop and improve the core infrastructure that engineers rely on every day—shipping infrastructure-as-code, working with Kubernetes-based systems, and contributing to deployment pipelines that enable fast, safe releases. Your work will directly impact system reliability, performance, and uptime in a 24/7 environment. You will partner closely with backend, product, and platform engineers to deploy services, improve observability, and respond to real production challenges—debugging issues, strengthening system resilience, and continuously raising the bar for reliability. Expect to work on problems like scaling distributed systems, improving release safety, and building automation that reduces operational toil and keeps systems running smoothly. What We Value

  • Strong experience building and operating production-grade cloud infrastructure

  • Experience with AWS (preferred) or other cloud providers (GCP, Azure)

  • Proficiency with Kubernetes and containerized environments

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Helm)

  • Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for reliable, frequent production releases

  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and scalability

  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus)

  • Familiarity with production safety practices, including testing, rollout strategies, and rollback mechanisms

  • Experience operating and supporting 24/7 production systems

  • Ability to contribute to design reviews and architectural decisions

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across teams in a mission-critical environment

  • Exposure to regulated cloud environments (e.g., FedRAMP) and familiarity with progressive deployment techniques (e.g., canary releases) is a plus

  • Exposure to high-availability systems (e.g., “four nines” reliability) is a strong plus

  • Proficient in leveraging modern LLM tools to accelerate development workflows and enhance code quality

How We Hire We look at the interview process not as a screening or test, but rather as an opportunity to simulate what it would look like working together. We build the interview process around you. Eligibility ASI works with export-controlled technology and restricted U.S. Government data, including on contracts mandating U.S. immigration status and location restrictions for performing personnel. Employment offers are contingent on ability to timely obtain all required authorizations for contemplated job duties.
