Vylor is seeking a motivated student to join the Global Seed Operations Quality organization as a Quality Innovation Intern. This internship provides an opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world projects that support innovation in global seed-testing operations.

Working alongside laboratory leaders, scientists, engineers, and data analysts, you will explore how emerging technologies—including imaging, sensors, automation, and machine learning—can support the evaluation of seed viability, vigor, and purity.

What You Will Do

  • Experimental design and innovation: Support the design, planning, execution, and documentation of experiments that evaluate seed quality using emerging technologies.

  • Data analysis and interpretation: Organize and analyze data from imaging systems, sensors, and other diagnostic platforms to identify patterns related to seed health and quality.

  • Machine-learning support: Assist with preparing data, testing approaches, and evaluating results for machine-learning or automated seed-classification use cases under the guidance of technical experts.

  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work with quality-testing laboratory leaders, scientists, engineers, and data analysts to prototype and evaluate new tools, methods, and workflows.

  • Documentation and quality: Maintain clear experimental records, follow established laboratory and data-quality procedures, and communicate risks, findings, and next steps.

  • Project presentation: Present project findings and recommendations to the Global Seed Operations Quality team and other business partners.

Qualifications

Required

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in agronomy, plant science, seed science, agricultural engineering, biological engineering, data science, computer science, statistics, or a related discipline

  • Strong interest in agricultural innovation, seed technology, experimentation, or data-driven problem-solving

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical disciplines

  • Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, attention to detail, and willingness to learn

  • Availability to work in Johnston, Iowa, from approximately May through August 2027

Preferred

  • Experience with laboratory work, experimental design, data collection, or statistical analysis

  • Familiarity with imaging systems, sensors, computer vision, automation, or machine-learning concepts

  • Experience using data-analysis or programming tools such as Excel, Power BI, Python, R, MATLAB, or similar applications

  • Coursework or project experience related to seed biology, plant physiology, image analysis, or predictive modeling

What You Will Gain

  • Hands-on experience with innovation projects in global seed-quality testing

  • Exposure to imaging, sensing, automation, machine learning, and laboratory workflows

  • Experience translating experimental data into practical findings and recommendations

  • Opportunities to strengthen technical, analytical, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills

  • Connections with scientists, engineers, laboratory leaders, data analysts, and other seed-production professionals

Join Vylor to explore emerging technologies and help advance how seed quality is evaluated across global operations.
