Job Description:

Job Title: Instructional Design Intern Department: Learning & Engagement FLSA: Non-Exempt Revision Date: April 2026

General Function: Supports the design and development of engaging learning materials that enhance employee performance and support business goals. Works closely with instructional designers and training leaders to create visually compelling and effective learning experiences while gaining hands-on experience in instructional design and graphic development.

Reporting Relationships: Accountable and Reports to: Director, Customer & Employee Experience; supports the Learning & Engagement Team Direct Reports: None

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting a caring attitude, patience and concern in all employee interactions. Smiles and greets employees and visitors in a friendly manner.

  • Assists in the design and development of learning materials across multiple formats, including e-learning, instructor-led training, job aids, and visual content.

  • Collaborates with instructional designers and subject matter experts to support learning solution development and content updates.

  • Creates and edits graphics, layouts, and visual elements to enhance the learner experience and ensure brand consistency.

  • Supports the development and maintenance of content within the Learning Management System (LMS).

  • Applies basic instructional design principles and adult learning concepts to assigned projects.

  • Participates in project meetings, brainstorming sessions, and feedback reviews.

  • Assists with quality assurance reviews to ensure accuracy, usability, and accessibility of learning materials.

  • Supports updates and revisions to existing training programs and resources.

  • Helps organize and manage project files, assets, and documentation.

  • Stays current on emerging trends in instructional design, e-learning, and graphic design tools.

  • Assists in tracking, maintaining, and updating trainee files.

Education and Experience:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Graphic Design, Communications, or a related field.

  • Interest in learning and development, training, or employee experience preferred.

  • Familiarity with design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar) and/or e-learning tools is a plus.

  • Previous coursework or project experience in design, training, or multimedia development preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be physically able to perform sedentary work: lifting no more than 10 pounds of force occasionally and or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.

  • Visual requirements include clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and up to 20 feet, with or without correction and field of vision.

  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: crawling, reaching, standing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
