The intern will support the work on the intelligence layer that makes this possible.

Technology is at the heart of Disney's past, present, and future. Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is a global organization of engineers, product developers, designers, technologists, data scientists, and more, all working to build and advance the technological backbone for Disney's media business globally.

We are Storytellers and Innovators. Creators and Builders. Entertainers and Engineers. We work with every part of The Walt Disney Company's media portfolio to advance the technological foundation and consumer media touch points serving millions of people around the world.

Here are a few reasons why we think you'd love working here:

  1. Building the future of Disney's media: Our Technologists are designing and building the products and platforms that will power our media, advertising, and distribution businesses for years to come.

  2. Reach, Scale & Impact: More than ever, Disney's technology and products serve as a signature doorway for fans' connections with the company's brands and stories. Disney+. Hulu. ESPN. ABC. ABC News, and many more. These products and brands, and the unmatched stories, storytellers, and events they carry, matter to millions of people globally.

  3. Innovation: We develop and implement groundbreaking products and techniques that shape industry norms, and solve complex and distinctive technical problems.

Content Platforms & Operations is responsible for the development and ongoing advancement of the technical and operational functions driving the worldwide distribution and monetization of Disney's linear networks and theatrical content. This includes Disney's media supply chain and storage, network and theatrical distribution operations, media localization, network transmission and origination, and more. The global team also plays a critical role as the primary collaboration point for Product & Technology with Disney's EMEA, APAC, and LATAM regional business teams.

Advanced Technology Group

The Advanced Technology Group operates at the intersection of emerging technology and media operations. We identify, prototype, and deploy innovative solutions that transform how Disney creates, manages, and delivers content across our global portfolio. Our team bridges the gap between cutting-edge capabilities and the practical realities of broadcast and media production workflows by designing complete and complex frameworks, systems, and products.

What You Will Do:

On any given day you might:

  • Build prototypes and internal tools, such as detection, metadata extraction, monitoring, or operator-facing web tools, within architectures set by senior architects.

  • Run structured tests of prototypes, systems, or vendor tools against defined criteria.

  • Shadow and interview broadcast & media operators to understand current workflows and pain points.

  • Report results honestly, including where something falls short of the bar, so senior architects can make decisions based on them.

  • Write documentation, runbooks, and known limitations for what the team builds, so others can run it.

  • Present findings to the team and stakeholders, gathering feedback along the way.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or Oracle Cloud, for storage, compute, or media workflows.

  • Programming skills, especially in Python; with at least one working project (a class project, personal project, or hackathon).

  • Exposure to machine learning or computer vision concepts through coursework or projects.

  • Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical colleagues.

  • Adaptability and a willingness to learn continuously in the rapidly evolving AI field.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

It would also be great if you have or are familiar with:

  • Cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or OCI.

  • Fmpeg and common video and audio formats.

  • Containerization with Docker and version control with Git.

  • Web application development and REST APIs.

  • LLM APIs or agent frameworks.

  • Broadcast operations, or live and 24/7 operations environments.

  • Broadcast vendors such as Evertz, Grass Valley, DataMiner, and TAG.

Education:

Currently enrolled undergraduate student in an accredited college/university, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Broadcast Management Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
