Full job description
The Department of Technology, Management and Budget supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services including Information Technology project delivery, maintenance and support. This position is within DTMB Agency Services supporting the Michigan Department of Education. We are looking for a person that understands the value of public service in a diverse environment and wants to help us meet the needs of our citizens. This person needs to be an excellent communicator, meaning they can explain things to an individual or large group in a way that they can understand and relate to, not necessarily an orator. We would love someone who is a motivator and leader. You need to be organized, have good time management skills, and know the importance of a timeline. We need someone who is reliable and honest and who keeps their word and commitments to their colleagues and customers. We want someone who comes to work and holds themselves and their staff accountable. You need to embrace diversity, have a team-oriented mindset, and learn to communicate effectively with a wide range of professionals. Strong communications skills are a must. As the first line manager supporting the Michigan Department of Education (MDE), you will plan, direct, and coordinate unit activities to ensure the objectives and goals are met within prescribed priorities, time limitations, and budgets. This position supports the MDE offices of Financial Management, Health and Safety, Nutrition Services, State Aid and School Finance, Special Education and the Library of Michigan. Primary applications supported by this position include Grant Electronic Monitoring System/Michigan Administrative Review System (GEMS/MARS), Michigan Nutrition Data System (MiND), State Aid Management System (SAMS), Taxable Value System (TVS), Office of Financial Management Core (OFMCore), Michigan Authors and Illustrators, Michigan Legislative Biography, and School Bus Inventory System (SBIS). If you are a self-motivated person with a proven track record, who seeks challenging work in a high-paced environment, we are interested in hearing from you. The State of Michigan offers competitive work experience that includes in-state remote work options, tuition reduction program at several higher education institutions, a variety of benefits, access to professional development training, and excellent vacation and sick time policies. Please consider sending in your application today.
