Full job description

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today, SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of making life multiplanetary and expanding consciousness to the stars.

SpaceXSI is building Super Intelligence to help humanity understand the universe. Our teams are building the full Super Intelligence stack: from our Colossus supercomputers, to Grok models, to our suite of applications, including Grok Bot, Grok Build, Grok Imagine, Grok Voice, and X. We're creating a powerful flywheel where more compute trains better models, better models power more useful products, and what we learn from people using those products shapes what we build next.

SR. MOBILE ANDROID ENGINEER

We're seeking an exceptional Android engineer to join a small, high-impact team dedicated to creating the world's most valuable AI application, judged by the impact it delivers to users. You'll shape cutting-edge mobile experiences, blending technical mastery with a keen product sense to deliver brilliance that resonates with users. You will work on the most critical product or technical challenge at any given time.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Craft delightful, intuitive user experiences that redefine how people interact with the app

  • Obsess over every pixel, animation, and interaction, ensuring the experience feels magical and seamless

  • Build blazing-fast, highly performant systems where every millisecond counts

  • Drive technical and product decisions, collaborating with designers, backend, iOS, and web engineers

  • Own the quality of the products you build - including running a/b tests, finding issues, and proactively making improvements

  • Be proactive in finding ways to improve the app - from user feedback and from your own daily experience on the app

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines and Flow

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Very strong product sense – you spot problems in a live product and turn them into solutions that move the business forward

  • A proven track record of delivering projects in production apps

  • Deep expertise in the Android stack and tooling (Android Studio, Gradle, etc.)

  • Experience beyond Android, such as iOS, web or backend development

  • Understands analytics and data, and uses metrics to measure impact and guide product decisions

  • Solid understanding of the Android platform: its strengths, limitations and trade-offs

  • Experience working on large-scale production apps with millions of daily active users

  • Strong ownership. You take problems from idea to release and see them through

  • Works autonomously and knows when to pull others in

  • Clear communicator who can explain trade-offs and decisions to engineers, designers and product partners

  • High craft bar – builds intuitive, delightful user experiences and optimizes for performance, stability and reliability

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

$180,000 - $330,000 USD

Base salary is just one part of our total rewards package at SpaceXSI, which also includes equity, comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, short & long-term disability insurance, life insurance, and various other discounts and perks.
