Full job description
Purpose:
The Project Engineer supports the planning, design, and execution of environmental remediation and engineering projects throughout Alaska. This position assists with the development of work plans, environmental investigations, technical documentation, and project coordination to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, within established budgets and schedules, and in accordance with applicable regulatory and quality requirements.
The Project Engineer works collaboratively with project managers, engineers, scientists, technical specialists, clients, and other stakeholders to support environmental projects for federal and commercial clients.
Essential Functions:

Support the development of work plans for sampling, analyzing, and reporting concentrations of contaminants and geochemical indicators in environmental media, including air, groundwater, surface water, marine environments, sediment, and soil.

Assist with planning and execution of remedial investigations, environmental monitoring, sampling, and related field activities throughout Alaska.

Support the planning, design, and implementation of environmental remediation and engineering projects.

Assist in the development, production, review, and delivery of technical documents in accordance with applicable quality standards and established project schedules.

Support project management activities to help ensure projects are completed within established scope, schedule, and budget requirements.

Assist in managing project activities in accordance with corporate, contractual, and project-specific health and safety requirements.

Prepare project progress documentation, including weekly and monthly status reports and other required project updates.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and subject matter experts to plan and execute environmental projects for federal and commercial clients.

Apply knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, and Department of Defense (DoD) environmental laws, regulations, standards, and guidance to assigned project activities.

Communicate and coordinate effectively with project managers, technical teams, clients, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.

Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, environmental data, field records, and supporting materials.

Participate in field activities throughout Alaska as required.

Travel occasionally to local and out-of-state project sites, conferences, meetings, and other business-related events.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
Required Qualifications:
-
Six (6)+ years of experience supporting environmental remediation projects.

Experience conducting environmental field work in Alaska.

Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, and DoD environmental laws, regulations, standards, and guidance.

Experience supporting environmental investigations, remediation, monitoring, sampling, or related engineering activities.

Ability to prepare and contribute to technical work plans, reports, and other project documentation.

Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with project stakeholders.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to remain focused and effective in a dynamic environment with competing priorities and deadlines.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

Ability to travel occasionally to local and out-of-state project sites, conferences, and meetings.

Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification or ability to complete required training within six months of hire.
-
Alaska Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
