Full job description

Purpose:

The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the planning, design, and implementation of environmental remediation and engineering projects throughout Alaska. This position supports the development of work plans, remedial investigations, environmental monitoring activities, and technical deliverables while helping ensure projects are completed safely, within established budgets and schedules, and in accordance with applicable quality and regulatory requirements.

The Project Engineer works collaboratively with project managers, engineers, scientists, technical specialists, and other stakeholders to successfully execute environmental projects for federal and commercial clients.

Essential Functions:

  • Support the planning, design, and implementation of environmental remediation and engineering projects throughout Alaska.

  • Support the development of work plans for sampling, analyzing, and reporting concentrations of contaminants and geochemical indicators in environmental media, including air, groundwater, surface water, marine environments, sediment, and soil.

  • Assist with planning and execution of remedial investigations, environmental monitoring, sampling, and related field activities.

  • Support the development, production, review, and delivery of technical documents in accordance with applicable quality standards and established project schedules.

  • Assist project managers with project planning, coordination, scheduling, and execution to help ensure work is completed within established scope, budget, and schedule requirements.

  • Support project activities in accordance with corporate, contractual, and project-specific health and safety requirements.

  • Prepare project progress documentation, including weekly and monthly status reports and other required project updates.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and subject matter experts to support and execute environmental projects for federal and commercial clients.

  • Apply knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, and Department of Defense (DoD) environmental laws, regulations, standards, and guidance to assigned project activities.

  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with project managers, technical teams, clients, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.

  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, environmental data, field records, and supporting materials.

  • Participate in field activities throughout Alaska as required.

  • Travel occasionally to local and out-of-state project sites, conferences, and meetings.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

Required Qualifications:

  • Six (6)+ years of experience with environmental remediation or related engineering work.

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required.

  • Experience conducting field work in Alaska.

  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, and DoD environmental laws, regulations, standards, and guidance.

  • Experience supporting environmental remediation, investigations, monitoring, sampling, or related engineering projects.

  • Ability to prepare and contribute to technical work plans, reports, and other environmental project documentation.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with project stakeholders.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to remain focused and effective in a dynamic environment with competing priorities and deadlines.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

  • Ability to travel occasionally to local and out-of-state project sites, conferences, and meetings.

  • Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification or ability to complete required training within six months of hire.
