Full job description

About the Company General Matter enriches uranium. We are designing, building, and operating the world’s lowest-cost enrichment services, here in the US. In the process, we are restoring America’s ability to produce nuclear fuel to power AI, advanced manufacturing and critical industries our country relies on to remain competitive. Fuel drives the cost of advanced reactor electricity production, and enrichment drives the cost of the fuel that advanced reactors consume. Reliable, low-cost enrichment is the catalyst for the nuclear Renaissance now under way. Our mission is to make nuclear not only the cleanest and safest source of baseload power, but also the most affordable. We believe abundant nuclear energy will lead to a post-scarcity society. We were incubated inside Founders Fund, like Anduril and Palantir before us, and are backed by over a dozen of the world's top venture capital firms. Our lean, world-class team of engineers and operators is applying a first-principles approach to solving the problem of nuclear fuel production. We are a mission-driven company with a culture of urgency, accountability, and transparency. Help us build a high-energy society by making the cleanest, safest form of baseload energy the most affordable. About This Role General Matter is building domestic uranium enrichment capacity to strengthen the U.S. nuclear fuel supply chain. We are seeking an exceptionally organized, detail-oriented Paralegal to help build and maintain the legal and regulatory infrastructure supporting our growth. This will be the first Paralegal hire in the Legal department. Working closely with the Head of Legal Operations and the General Counsel, other company attorneys, and outside counsel, this individual will focus primarily on corporate governance, subsidiary management, and corporate records, with additional responsibilities supporting equity administration, financing, and legal and regulatory operations. The ideal candidate takes ownership of processes, produces accurate work, and follows matters through to completion. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys bringing structure to complex work, anticipates what needs to happen next, and exercises sound judgment when handling confidential information. The ideal candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment, treat constraints as opportunities to innovate, and find stimulation and meaning in navigating the varied, rapidly changing demands of a startup. Responsibilities

  • Support board, committee, and stockholder actions. Prepare draft agendas, resolutions, written consents, minutes, and supporting materials; coordinate distribution, signatures, and final recordkeeping.
  • Own the corporate governance calendar. Track recurring governance requirements, approval deadlines, outstanding signatures, and follow-up actions, ensuring matters are completed and documented.
  • Coordinate subsidiary and entity administration. Support entity formations, state qualifications, annual reports, registered agent relationships, good-standing requirements, and other corporate filings in coordination with counsel and service providers.
  • Update legal entity charts, subsidiary ownership information, and director, officer, and manager records as appointments, transactions, and organizational changes occur.
  • Draft secretary’s certificates, incumbency certificates, and supporting governance documents using approved forms.
  • Administer delegated authority records. Maintain signature authority matrices, officer authorizations, and related approvals.
  • Support governance diligence and audits. Assemble corporate records for financings, audits, regulatory information requests, and other diligence exercises; identify gaps and coordinate remediation.
  • Maintain organized legal repositories and matter trackers; help develop templates, checklists, and repeatable workflows that improve accuracy and reduce administrative burden.
  • Provide targeted support for contract administration, business licenses, real estate closing deliverables, and insurance documentation.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, outside counsel, and service providers to obtain information, and resolve administrative issues.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier undergraduate institution, with a strong academic record.
  • Excellent writing, proofreading, and document preparation skills, with a strong command of grammar and meticulous attention to names, dates, figures, and document consistency.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines, distinguish urgent issues from routine tasks, and follow assignments through to completion.
  • Strong discretion and judgment when handling sensitive board, investor, employee, and transaction information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, electronic signature tools, and document management systems.
  • Ability to work independently on established processes while recognizing when an issue requires attorney review or escalation.
  • If you don’t meet every qualification but think you would be a star in this role, apply and tell us why in your cover letter.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience supporting venture-backed or other high-growth private companies.
  • Experience working with both corporations and limited liability companies across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience in a regulated, industrial, energy, infrastructure, or advanced technology business.
  • Active U.S. security clearance or demonstrated ability to obtain and maintain one.

Additional Requirements

  • Willing to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • This position is based in Los Angeles, CA and requires being onsite full-time - hybrid and remote work will not be considered.
